JOB EMPHASIS AND PURPOSE
Atkins and Pearce is seeking a Network & Hardware Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and support our IT infrastructure, including network systems, hardware equipment, and connectivity. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing IT environment, minimizing downtime, and supporting end-users with hardware and network-related issues.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and access points.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain IT hardware, including workstations, servers, printers, and other peripherals.
- Perform routine system updates, firmware upgrades, and security patches.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of VoIP systems and other communication tools.
- Support end-users with hardware and network-related issues, resolving technical problems efficiently.
- Maintain IT asset inventory and documentation for network infrastructure and hardware components.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to implement network improvements and system optimizations.
- Ensure compliance with IT security policies and best practices.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in IT support, networking, or hardware maintenance.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Hands-on experience with networking equipment (Cisco, Meraki, etc.), including troubleshooting and configuration.
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and other network services.
- Ability to diagnose and repair hardware components, including desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to IT issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing to a wide range of audiences – primarily staff, vendors, and customers and ability to work in a team environment and good attendance.
- Security Awareness: Understanding of cybersecurity principles.
Skills / Specialized Knowledge / Abilities:
- Calm, patient, diplomatic, and confident demeanor in working with staff and vendors.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial IT environment.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V).
- Basic scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Python).
- Advanced attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Intermediate ability to prioritize own wide-ranging workload and work independently.
- Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality regarding business and staff information.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working Hours / Environment:
- Office hours are 40 hours per. May require additional hours periodically, including evenings and weekends, depending on business needs.
- Work is typically performed in an indoor office setting or out in the plant.
Tools and Equipment:
- Personal computer, copier, fax/scanner, phone, and other typical office equipment.

Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
- Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment.
- Medium lifting and carrying of IT Equipment, printers, etc.
- Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person.
- Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around the office and plant environments.
- Ability to analyze sourcing data, benefits, and other reports and make recommendations.
