JOB EMPHASIS AND PURPOSE

A Twisting Textile Production Operator is responsible for the set up and changing of materials on a variety of different types of Twisting machines. This includes a cleaning process as well.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees are expected to conform to the following:

  • Perform quality work in a safe manner within a production standard either with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with coworkers.
  • Work effectively within a functional group.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for effective communication (5+1) and coordinating work efforts with other employees and departments.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Twister Textile Production Operators are tasked with the following:

  • Harvesting of finished goods from the machine frame.
  • Cleaning of the frame before set-up.
  • Replacing input material on the creel of the machine and threading up of this material.
  • Tying down the input material onto bobbins in order to transfer the material during the twisting, plying or cabling process.
  • Starting up the machine and recording production tasks.

Quality:

  • The inspection of all material being placed on a machine during its set up as well as the finished material being harvested from the machine. The quality standards vary according to product specification.
  • The correct labeling of material harvested from the machine.

Miscellaneous:

Operate the following industrial motorized vehicles:

  • Forklifts… A sit-down fork truck to transport and retrieve materials on skids.
  • Cherry pickers… A stand-up lift that raises the operator off the ground in order to replace and remove material from overhead creels.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

License / Credentials / Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willing and able to become certified by company on Forklift and other motorized material handling vehicles

Skills / Specialized Knowledge / Abilities

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Hours / Environment

  • Work hours are 8 hours a day, 5 days a week during training (4 months). Training can be on either day or night shift. Permanent schedule will be night shift, 10 hours a day, 4 days a week.
  • This position requires working at least one weekend day on your permanent shift (Friday and/or Saturday.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment (Hearing protection is required).

Tools and Equipment

  • Tools include but are not limited to scissors, box knife. Appropriate PPE will be assigned as required. This includes safety glasses, cut gloves, hat or hairnet, hearing protection.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Lifting requirements of 10-25 lbs. frequently and 25-50 lbs. occasionally.
  • The ability to push/pull up to 60 lbs.
  • The ability to stand and walk on concrete for an entire shift.
  • The ability to bend and/or squat frequently.
  • The ability to walk up ladders or stairs.

  • Additional $2/hour for night shifts
  • Additional $1/hour for working one weekend day

Training Completion Bonus:

  • $1.25/hour increase after 4 months upon certification
