JOB EMPHASIS AND PURPOSE

A Regains Production Operator is responsible for operating a variety of different types of winding machines.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees are expected to conform to the following:

  • Perform quality work in a safe manner within a production standard either with or without direct supervision.

  • Interact professionally with coworkers.

  • Work effectively within a functional group.

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for effective communication (5+1) and coordinating work efforts with other employees and departments.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Machine Operation:

  • Regains Production Operators are tasked with the following:
    1. Moving from station to station on the assigned machine - harvesting the finished package and tying material onto an empty ratchet spool, then engaging the station to begin the transfer of material from the input package to the ratchet spool.
    2. Replacing the input material and threading it up through a series of gates and other tension devices as needed.
    3. Accurately recording the number of changes accomplished onto a production sheet.

Quality:

  • The inspection of all material being placed on a machine during its set up as well as the finished material being harvested from the machine. The quality standards vary according to product specification.
  • The correct labeling of material harvested from the machine.
  • Remove non-conforming material from ratchet spools and bobbins by the use of a yarn puller.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

Skills / Specialized Knowledge / Abilities

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Hours / Environment

  • Work hours are 40 hours per week – days and times vary per shift; may require additional hours periodically, including evenings and weekends, depending on company needs.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment (Hearing protection is required).

Tools and Equipment

  • The use of a pair of scissors or snips is required to perform this job. Appropriate PPE will be assigned as required. This includes the wearing of either a hat or hairnet as well as hearing protection.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing between 10 and 40 pounds occasionally.
  • You must be capable of standing and walking on concrete surfaces for the duration of a shift.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms raised above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to bend or squat occasionally as job duties require.
  • Must be capable of frequent lateral (side-to-side) movement while working.
  • Must be able to perform highly repetitive motions using hands, wrists, and arms.
