Job Emphasis and Purpose
The Mechanic Level 2 is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting machinery and equipment within their assigned area, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems and components. This role requires a focus on maintaining equipment in safe and reliable working condition to support production requirements.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Machine Maintenance
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machinery with a focus on electrical systems.
Perform machine changeovers in accordance with specification sheets.
Execute preventive maintenance schedules, including replacing or upgrading parts as needed.
Adjust equipment to maintain proper tension, setup, and performance standards.
Assemble new machinery and retrofit existing equipment for improved operation.
Disassemble and store machines as required.
Electrical Work
Diagnose and repair electrical systems and controls on machinery.
Install or replace wiring, relays, switches, motors, and related components.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.
Perform lockout/tagout procedures during electrical repairs.
Miscellaneous
Support other departments and maintenance needs as required.
Demonstrate strong teamwork, consistent attendance, and effective face-to-face communication.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical trade school or formal electrical training preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including mechanical and basic electrical work.
Licenses / Certifications
Valid driver’s license.
Forklift license.
Lockout/tagout certification.
OSHA 3 basic certification (electrical safety, machine guarding, PPE).
Skills / Specialized Knowledge / Abilities
Strong mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills.
Basic to intermediate electrical troubleshooting skills, including reading electrical schematics.
Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical problems efficiently.
Familiarity with operating shop tools including plasma cutters, welders, mills, and lathes.
Competency with Microsoft Office applications and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Ability to interpret and follow equipment specifications and technical manuals.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
