POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will work on projects of significant and diverse scope and will be responsible for applying technical expertise to capital equipment development. They will work on project teams that are responsible for producing next generation capital equipment in cryothermia to be used by physicians. The successful candidate will have technical capabilities in concept development, design, prototyping, testing, and intellectual property generation. They will also be comfortable designing and implementing integrated solutions that include digital, analog, and software elements. The ability to work with consultants and suppliers to implement solutions will be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Define requirements and implement a platform for developing and evaluating a novel cryothermia generator
- Lead efforts to identify and optimize novel cryothermia parameters using modifiable software.
- Participate in Voice of the Customer planning, collection, and analysis
- Plan and conduct hands-on experimental work (bench, in vitro and in vivo) to evaluate prototypes
- Collaborate with Product Development teams to transition projects/concepts into Design Control
- Prepare presentations and reports in support of R&D activities
- Submit new innovations regularly to Patent Review Board
- Stay current with latest relevant technology through literature, seminars, and conferences
- Obtain input/ feedback from key customers – surgeons, nurses, and other clinicians
- May lead or support variety of engineering design and development tasks, to include design, analysis, material selection, prototyping, in-vivo and in-vitro testing, and user validation
- Develop and validate test methods for new product features and functions
- Communicate with and direct external suppliers of components subassemblies and finished assemblies

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSEE + 7 years of experience, or MSEE + 5 years of experience
- Experience in developing analog and digital designs and prototypes
- Experience with embedded C, C, LabView or similar software languages
- Demonstrated initiative to solve complex technical problems
- Strong track record of innovation
- Be comfortable collaborating with clinicians to identify unmet needs and solutions.
- Track record of successful product development working in cross-functional project teams
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel 20%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical device experience with capital equipment. Specifically, cryothermia generators or electro-mechanical medical devices.
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- Knowledge of Change Order Systems
- Knowledge in medical devices standards for electromechanical systems: IEC 60601, 62304, 62366.
- Experience with C, LabView or similar software languages
- Prior experience developing RF Generators
- Knowledge of cryo ablation systems a plus
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
- Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
- Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
