Director, Training and Education - APAC

Position Summary:
Director, Training & Education for APAC (including, but not limited to, 4 sub-regions: ANZ, Japan, Mainland China, SEAHWK - SE Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, S Korea) is responsible for leading the development of Training and Education (T&E) strategies for APAC region in line with business and therapy development objectives for the region, both for internal and external audience. The role is primarily responsible for supporting and evaluating a broad range of training programs and educational activities, including identification of training opportunities, training the trainers and co-ordination of projects to support medical education of AtriCure therapies.
This role is based in Singapore and candidates already based in Singapore will be preferred
Roles and Responsibilities:
This role has few pillars of responsibilities: Leading the development of T&E strategy for APAC, Leading all aspects of external professional education and leading the development and execution of Internal education programs for the region.
Building and leading the T&E APAC team:
- This role is responsible for building and leading a best-in-class Training Team. Initially, the role will have two direct reports, but is expected to expand in response to business needs
Leading the T&E strategies for APAC:
- This role is responsible for developing both internal and external T&E strategies, in line with business and therapy development objectives both at APAC and sub-regional level. The objective is to develop best-in-class training and education programs and become a brand and ‘go-to’ destination for it
- Collaborate with APAC and sub-regional leaders and Marketing and Therapy development leaders to align on strategies and partner on seamless execution
Leading the development and execution of external professional education:
- Lead the development and execution of professional education programs that support safe, efficient, and effective adoption of AtriCure therapies including development of training pathways for therapy adoption from Trial, to Repeat to Expert phases.
- Support Professional Education programs to include training course management and execution, working with course faculty, and communicating with the field and management on course status and results
- Oversee that all administrative tasks and paperwork is completed and in compliance with all company policies and external reporting requirements
- Manage ongoing field communication regarding course and surgeon and HCP training opportunities
- Manage proctor activities
- Support cadaver/simulator lab logistics and planning, shipping and maintenance of lab kits, and other ad hoc projects
- Design and Implementation of Allied Health Professional training opportunities and train the trainer initiatives
Leading the development and execution of Internal Training Programs:
- Collaborate with Global and International training partners to develop Internal training program in line with the region’s business and therapy development needs, including developing training pathway for new hires, continuing and advanced education programs for existing/tenured team members
- Support execution of new hire and advanced sales representative training providing logistic, meeting planning support and course materials as necessary
Basic Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification or experience. MD preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in leading T&E efforts in medical device industry, including a minimum of 3 years of people management experience. 10+ Years experience and building a training team will be preferred
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to interact with physicians in a professional manner
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Must be creative, self-motivated, proactive, intuitive, organized, flexible, and deadline oriented
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50%)
- Experience interacting with physician faculty and senior sales management
