POSITION SUMMARY:

This leadership position includes improving AtriCure’s understanding of reimbursement and local market access in the region at all levels, ensuring education and proficiency of the organization to enhance the healing of the lives of those affected by Afib and pain after surgery. This role focuses on the execution of global initiatives into the APAC region as well as the support of local needs across Reimbursement and Market Access. Key focus areas will include establishing new or improving existing reimbursement for current and planned therapies, hospital value creation and sales support, Health Technology Assessment/Government Affairs strategies, and health economics needs. This role requires an understanding of regional healthcare and reimbursement policies and landscape. This leader will collaborate closely with the VP Health Economics & Reimbursement (HE&R), Senior Leadership, Sales, and Marketing team members to develop and lead the region’s Market Access Strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

The Health Economics and Market Access Director APAC will represent AtriCure HE&R and APAC Sales with major cross-functional teams at the customer level and strengthen reimbursement and market access strategies; and include the following:

  • Work with business unit leaders and VP Health Economics & Reimbursement to develop reimbursement landscape priority and needs basked on MKT growth opportunities
  • Develop and implement regional market access strategies for prioritized AtriCure therapies in the wider AOAC territory
  • Monitor and assess policy trends and regulatory developments in global markets, proactively identifying risks and opportunities that could impact access with a focus on APAC
  • Build collaborative cross-region/department relationships (Regulatory, Mkt, Sales, Reimbursement, Scientific Affairs) to complete strategic projects, leverage internal resources to accelerate Mkt Growth opportunities
  • Manager third party vendors and contracts for those involved with reimbursement and market access initiatives
  • Foster relationships with physicians to assist with reimbursement or payor coverage policy revisions
  • Partner closely with APAC sales organization to support regional and national sales and training meetings
  • Responsible for building Market Access support collateral, including value decks, White Papers, etc.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree in life sciences or business-related field.
  • MBA, MA/MS degree in life sciences or related field will be preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role in Market Access or similar function
  • At least 10 Years of experience in Medical Devices or life sciences industry
  • Proven ability to understand business strategy, translate it into solutions that support the company’s goals
  • Solid understanding of healthcare ecosystems in APAC. Awareness of policy trends and commercial challenges specific to APAC markets; ability to communicate and educate across the organization at all levels.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory requirements / status needed to achieve appropriate product reimbursement levels for all countries within the APAC region.
  • Strong links to Market Access and Government Affairs consultants in the APAC region.
  • Experience of influencing and negotiating at management level with documented success.
  • Successful track record of managing and balancing multiple projects with overlapping timelines in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Track record of successful partnership & collaboration with key stakeholders and business partners.
  • Experience working and influencing in a global cross-functional team (functional/matrix) environment and experience working with groups with varied cultural backgrounds and learning styles is required.
  • Bilingual and proficient in English (preferably Japanese)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, electrophysiology, and arrhythmias
  • Ability to think strategically, critically analyze and synthesize complicated data, scientific, and business information.
  • Strong communication skills to bridge the relationship between global and regional functions
