Position Summary:
Developer Experience, Architecture & Modernization (DREAM) provides enterprise technical standards and common technical services, platforms, and tools that are leveraged by delivery teams across all BofA lines of business. The DREAM Solution Architecture team leads the solution design of those common services, platforms, and tools within our portfolio. With a strong sense of ownership for both personal deliverables and value stream goals, we perform role functions including:
Creating technical designs for architecturally significant DREAM portfolio business and technical change
Collaborating with delivery teams on implementation according to design, standards, and best practices
Evaluating vendor and in house solutions against architecture standards and technical requirements
Managing value stream architecture runway and technical debt backlog with input from key stakeholders e.g. Product Manager/Owner, Feature Lead, Infrastructure, Info Security
Collaborating with peer Solution Architects and Enterprise Architects on cohesive and consistent architecture approaches and best practices
This role is part of our Centralized Developer Tooling team, to be responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution architecture for defined domains which align with the enterprise architecture strategy, technology and platform choices. Key responsibilities include describing the solution intent/associated operating environment, evaluating system impacts, determining the primary systems/subsystems and their interfaces, assisting with end-to-end solution design where needed, defining non-functional requirements/architectural runway to support new epics/features, and following internal governance processes. This role ensures the solution is fit for purpose and use by working with stakeholders, vendors/service providers, and evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions.
The Senior Architect will be accountable to assist in managing 2,000+ applications in EARC, the .NET enterprise ecosystem, decision EA requests as a capability manager, submit desktop packaging items to resolve vulnerabilities and assist with vendor licensing issues, as well as ensure proper management of risk and vulnerabilities across products.
Required Skills:
Broad and deep experience designing solutions across varied software development platforms and environments including .Net, Linux, Windows, Java, Python, JavaScript, vendor packages, Tomcat/JBoss, data analytics, etc.
Must have a deep technical knowledge of .NET Framework 2.0 through .NET 8, including common requirements to assist with legacy component migrations
Strong, independent, ownership focused technical leader requiring minimal oversight including the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Design and/or development experience with complex, integrated, high volume applications for resiliency and performance leveraging both application (e.g. caching, replication) and infrastructure components (e.g. load balancers, clustering)
Knowledge of security aspects of integrated system design and associated protocols e.g. AAA, token based auth, encryption
Experience with DevOps automation and enablement technologies e.g. Jenkins, Ansible/Tower, Jira, Git/Bitbucket, Artifactory, SonarQube, etc.
Process expertise across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) i.e. requirements definition, build, test, deploy, release, operate
Ability to provide clear, concise technical guidance to the delivery partners along (e.g. developers, engineers) with comprehensive status communication to program management (e.g. product owners, scrum masters)
Ability and desire to perform hands on POC work to comprehensively assess applicability and impact of technology and patterns to our solution designs
Desired Skills:
Production level experience with microservices/SOA enabling tools e.g. API Management, Kubernetes/Docker, service gateway/meshes, Swagger
Experience with agile methodologies, routines, and tools
Technical experience with web application UI frameworks e.g. Angular, React
This job is responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution that supports the strategic outcomes of the Business' Products and Services. Key responsibilities include defining the target operating environment, designing for client resiliency, assisting with solution design, and defining non-functional requirements. Job expectations include working with stakeholders and service providers aligned to the Business' strategic objectives, evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions, and contributing to the architecture roadmap.
