Trading Operations Specialist

The Trading Operations Specialist supports firmwide trading optimization and centralized trading across client portfolios. This role collaborates closely with Advisors to facilitate trading activities and related operational tasks involved in the management, maintenance, and investment of client accounts. The Specialist ensures accurate account data, efficient trade generation, and adherence to firm processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the firmwide evaluation and onboarding of client data within the firm’s trading software, including conducting detailed interviews with Advisors, reviewing accounts, and modeling portfolios to support Centralized Trading operations. This results in the Specialist creating and proposing trades for Advisors.
- Assist with Centralized Trading operations between the Trading department and Advisors. Serve as a trading hub for Advisors, improving operational efficiencies and enabling Advisors to focus on client service.
- Generate trade proposals to Advisors based on updates to firm models and portfolio strategy.
- Participate as a member of the Bartlett Fund Advantage (BFA) team, supporting the trading and maintenance of BFA accounts from initial setup through ongoing trade creation.
- Develop and implement processes and best practices to maintain appropriate cash levels within accounts, including generating trades to align with cash targets.
- The Trading Operations Specialist is a member of the Trading execution team, assisting in the execution of equity, fixed income, mutual fund, and option trades with multiple broker/custodian trading desks.
- Act as an internal resource for trading software questions; assist with system maintenance, functionality improvements, and process documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with various special projects and requests as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Strong numerical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to solve problems using analytical and mathematical reasoning.
- High proficiency with technology solutions, including Microsoft Office applications - notably Excel.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of investments, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, and options, and the role they play within a client portfolio.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail, and understanding of the responsibilities involved in working with client assets.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and comfort while working on firmwide duties.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
- Ability to promptly respond to email, instant messaging, and phone calls.
- Effective communication skills, including professionalism, tact, and sound judgment when interacting across all levels of the firm.
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning software systems and researching best‑practice workflows.
- Ability to work well under pressure and with many interruptions.
