Job purpose

The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Manager of Access and Outreach with the planning and execution of CAT’s community relations efforts to increase referrals, assist in facilitating admissions, increase agency visibility, build brand recognition, and strengthen the relationship between CAT and our community partners. General expectations include working closely with Access to help streamline the admission process, building up a network of strong relationships with new and existing referral partners, working with community partners to provide encouragement, support, and resources to individuals suffering from substance use disorder, and ensuring that CAT is present at relevant community events. This role is primarily focused on outreach for gambling addiction, treatment, and recovery.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Access Department to obtain/maintain maximum referrals for CAT’s treatment programs and services.
  • Help to streamline the admission process with community partners by completing a phone screen in Aura, removing any barriers, and scheduling once the client is admission ready.
  • Identify, establish, develop, and maintain communications and relationships with potential referring partners in the region by use of but not limited to; telephone use, one on one meetings, presentations, site visits, and social media.
  • Strategize and develop a plan to strengthen the relationship between CAT and the community.
  • Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
  • Seek opportunities where the agency is represented by CEO, or appropriate staff person on community committees and in relevant meetings and/or boards as appropriate.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, ensuring the agency is properly represented.
  • Manage community-facing events that represent CAT such as town halls, forums, presentations, etc. including planning, logistics, venue selection, promotion and volunteer recruitment.
  • Act as a positive ambassador providing in person tours to internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to other area agencies focused on addiction treatment, mental health, and transitional housing.
  • Respond to all Tidio inquiries and marketing discussions relayed via the Marketing Team. Document interactions in Aura in the contact log or call center where appropriate and communicate contact information to Access.
  • Document all referrals from community partners and outcomes directly obtained by Outreach in the Referral spreadsheet. Document referral and outcomes in Aura when applicable.
  • Maintain and update calendar of events on shared drive, describing events, locations, and duties as assigned at Outreach Events.
  • Provide photographs and supportive content to Marketing Team and Manager from events when applicable (for example, pictures with community partners at local events).
  • Provide a daily report to the Director of Access and Outreach summarizing daily outcomes via email.
  • Must report to the office Monday- Friday from 8am- 4:30pm and will require some weekend/evening availability as needed. This position will also be working in the community for any pre-approved outreach events or activities. Flexibility in schedule will be monitored and pre-approved by Manager.
  • Support CAT’s trauma-informed care culture.
  • Produce and report “Moving the Needle” data.
  • Enhance professional growth and development, meeting requirements of the Staff Development Plan

  • Job duties may be increased, decreased or combined as the needs of the organization dictate.
  • Provide transportation for scheduled for intake, including transporting to/from home or other facilities in either personal vehicle or CAT van.
  • Assisting with Access procedures as needed, including phone screens, searches, admissions, etc.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1 year of direct patient experience in healthcare or social service field. Experience working in Behavioral Health setting preferred. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong customer service skills with a proven ability to build and foster positive relationships. Must have functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word®, Excel®, Outlook®). Valid driver’s license.
