Job Description

What you'll do

  • Lead development of standard specifications to support VOME Investment Efficiency Committee
    initiatives for Triple-8/Triple-5 cost reduction efforts, to improve component flexibility, and
    alignment with tooling conveyor system designs
  • Lead standard process development to support VOME Investment Efficiency Committee initiatives
    for Commodity/Integrator approach, "bundle buy" opportunities, and "low cost country" sourcing
  • Lead development of conveyor standards unit cost matrix
  • Lead for NACS/VOSS specifications updates based on "lessons learned" feed-back, including
    alignment with VOME GPE, FAE and global counterparts
  • Lead development of FMEAs aligned to standard conveyor designs
  • Lead development of standard conveyor and related facilities used in Body Shop manufacturing
    process applications
  • Lead development of standard conveyor and related facility QA processes and documents; e.g.,
    shop/site run-off acceptance criteria, baseline data sheets, etc.
  • Lead for investigation of new/emerging technologies as applied to conveyor and related facility cost,
    performance and maintainability
  • Lead for development of conveyor and related equipment mechanical/controls compatibility

New Model Program/Project Financial Management:

  • Support Facility Layout/Site Engineer with facility layout development from
  • Support Manufacturing Facilities Planning Engineer/Analyst with facility budgetary cost estimate
    development from
  • Support Manufacturing Facilities Planning Engineer/Analyst with development of study Alternates,
    Risks & Opportunities layouts and associated cost estimates

Non-Product Program/Project Financial Management:

  • Support Plant Project review/approval process
  • Support development of 5-Year Non-Prod Project Business Plan as regards to conveyors and related
    facilities
  • Support development of Equipment Re-Use and Management Plan as regards to conveyors and
    related facilities

New Model Program Status Tracking and Master Schedule:

  • Support Facility Layout Engineer development of Conveyors and Related Facilities Installation
    Milestone Schedule
  • Support Facilities Implementation Supervisor with development of Conveyor and related facilities
    procurement schedule
  • Support Facilities Implementation Supervisor with development and on-going maintenance of the
    New Model Program Master Schedule

Conveyors and Facilities Procurement and Implementation:

  • Support development of bid specifications and clarification leading to PO Award for Conveyor and
    related facilities procurement
  • Support the project VA/VE process for Conveyor and related facilities
  • Lead Conveyor Commodity design reviews
  • Support "shop run-off" review and acceptance for Conveyor and related facilities procurement,
    where applicable
  • Support the Facility Launch Plan, including "site run-off" review and acceptance, baseline data
    acquisition and plant personnel training, etc. for Conveyor conveyors and related
  • Lead development of conveyor and related facilities environmental "sustainability" actions
  • Lead for establishing 3ZF- drawing numbers as requested by conveyor supplier

Conveyors and Facilities Build Follow-up:

  • Support supplier coordination relative to Turn-Key/Integrator work scope
  • Lead for "as needed" emergency support for current model production tooling and conveyors

Conveyors and Facilities Mechanical Standards:

  • Lead development of standard specifications to support VOME Investment Efficiency Committee
    initiatives for Triple-8/Triple-5 cost reduction efforts, to improve component flexibility, and
    alignment with tooling conveyor system designs

  • Lead development of standard preventive maintenance processes and specifications; e.g., the BCE
    M-Task library, standard spare parts recommendations, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent engineering discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience performing mechanical system engineering analysis, layout and detail design
    of conveyance/ automation systems, tool related utility services and general building facilities
    typically used in manufacturing/assembly facilities; automotive assembly/stamping plant experience
    preferredB
  • Basic working knowledge of Ford Motor Company standards and specifications related to
    manufacturing and assembly conveyance/ automation systems, tool related utility services and
    general building facilities layout and design
  • Basic working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles as applied to manufacturing/assembly
    plants, including development of performance/compliance metrics
  • Basic working knowledge of discreet event simulation as applied to manufacturing/assembly plants
    with emphasis on providing proper input data and interpreting simulation results
  • Basic understanding and working knowledge of CPARS system used to initiate PO/CR and approve
    invoices for manufacturing/assembly equipment
  • Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD software for plant layout
  • Basic working knowledge of MS Office software applications; i.e., MS Word, MS Excel and MS
