Senior Manager overseeing Medical Device Information and Integration Systems (MDIIS), CVIS, and Imaging Systems. across all service lines and business units. Includes management of the MDIIS team, and close cooperation with HTM’s other pillars, Biomedical, , and Business Operations. Performs Duties and Responsibilities outlined in Job Duties. Reports to the Director of HTM.
Strategic and Tactical Planning for MDIIS, CVIS, and Imaging: Leads and manages HTM’s efforts in TCHHN’s MDIIS and Cybersecurity initiatives; plus coordinate with HTM’s Biomedical Manager and Business Operations within HTM. Across TCHHN’s enterprise this position will lead this team working with Physicians, Leadership, Clinical Managers, Users and Vendors to support TCHHN’s MDIIS. (Formerly just Cardiology).
Cybersecurity: Manage and provide focused cybersecurity efforts on medical devices/systems to mitigate and manage risk of the Enterprise’s Medical Devices, whether they are on the network or standalone. Will also be responsible for alert/recalls in these technologies.
Assistant to the Director: Acts as Assistant Director to Director of HTM assuming responsibilities including management of the Manager, Biomedical, Imaging, and Business Operations when the Director is out or not available/scheduling conflicts.

EDUCATION: Minimum Bachelor’s degree and or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Biomedical, Imaging, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Information Technology with a Masters in Engineering, IT, or Business Management highly preferred. 10 years’ experience can qualify for a Bachelors degree, prefer BS degree in a technology and postgraduate of business. Will consider BS in business with correct experience. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a related management role required with expanding knowledge and responsibility shown over time.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: • This position requires engineering and/or bio-medical experience, strong functional management knowledge, general hospital instrumentation knowledge and critical thinking. • Experience in Imaging, Information Technology and Business management • The application of circuit analysis and design, analog and digital electronics, microcomputers, biomedical systems, and safety in the building, testing, operation, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. • The applications of physics, chemistry, and biological sciences to building, testing, operation, and maintenance and management of biomedical equipment at a rigorous mathematical level. • Use of a CMMS system for documentation. • Extensive expertise of TJC, OSHA, HIPAA, and SMDA policies and regulations. • Expertise in NFPA 99 and Life Safety Code 101. • Experience in incident investigation and quality assurance inspection and programs. • Extensive expertise in Direction of Clinical Engineering operations. • Strategy, Risk analysis, long term planning, high value budget planning and management • Adept at learning on job as well as teaching and mentoring others. • Desirable to be considered a technical expert and able to mentor other mentors. • Can successfully support solution of organization-level customer service issues.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: • Certified Clinical Engineer (C.C.E.) or Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM) preferred. Years of experience may be considered in lieu of certifications. |
Provides effective management for all MDIIS systems, including involvement in the selection and implementation initiatives for the Service Lines, and Departments (Business Owners). Works closely with the administrative and physician leadership to ensure TCH maintains leadership in the application and adoption of technology in the MDIIS. This includes all service lines.
- Works closely with vendors to ensure system capabilities match the requirements of TCHHN.
- Provides workflow analysis and redesign in conjunction with physicians and clinicians.
- Maintains Project Budgets and Project Plans.
- Coordinates and monitors all project activities, with project management team or if an internal project in HTM.
- Provides effective and timely project updates and summaries to service line and executive management.
Overall management for HTM’s MDIIS technology for the TCHHN Enterprise. Provides overall leadership for all tactical and strategic initiatives for these systems across the Enterprise, TCH, Liberty, and TCHP. Provides support and strategic planning systems in these various service lines, departments, and Level II support for the Imaging and Biomedical team. Responsible for budgeting, maintenance, technical support, end-user adoption, and incident resolution for MDIIS systems.
- Establish methodology and technical assistance for the evaluation of potential cost-effectiveness of MDIIS. Ensures that proper legal and fiscal safeguards are in place with equipment is purchased.
- Ensure compliance with all laws, rules, and guidelines of State, JCAHO, and other Government or Regulatory bodies.
- Ensure MDIIS initiatives maintain compliance with HIPAA and other privacy and security regulations.
- Manages the Cybersecurity efforts of HTM and reports all issues and initiatives or budgetary requirements to the Director, HTM
- Maintains effective communication with departmental staff, executive leadership, and departmental directors of supported departments.
- Ensures timely performance evaluations and maintains effective employee relations throughout the service units., repairs, test equipment and contracts for medical and mechanical equipment.
Maintains the financial (operations and capital) budget for the MDIIS systems of TCHHN. Ensures the proper budgeting of personnel, repairs, test equipment and contracts for the MDIIS team. And keeps Director, HTM and Business Office appraised in a timely manner.
- Reviews and analyzes equipment/imaging/vendor contracts. Looking 7 to 12 months into the future for budgeting and system changes.
- Ensures proper resources for support/project management/integration of MDIIS systems
Maintains the technical support and employee training necessary to provide prompt and competent support of the business users (end users, management, and leadership).
- Follows or defines the safety regulations and standards.
- Follows policies and procedures to use HTM’s CMMS system to define policies/procedures and documentation processes as part of HTM’s CMMS. Also works with Technology Group and IT to update documentation in IT’s and as well as HTMs systems.
- Implements and oversees consistent methods to monitor equipment downtime and repair costs across the Enterprise.
- Analyzes in-house and outside resources is optimized to keep current information on the cost of outside resources. Evaluate MDIIS specific service agreements to maintain quality and cost-effective equipment/software support.
Provides continuing in-service training, policies, and procedures of Clinical Staff on the safe and proper use of MDIIS systems in TCHHN’s enterprise.
- Follows TCHHN written policies and procedures for handling equipment hazard notification and follows through.
- Oversee Recall/Alerts for the assigned systems and staff.
- Coordinate with the Director, Risk Management for investigation of equipment related incidents involving MDIIS
Assumes backup role if HTM Director is not available, on vacation, business or educational conferences, scheduling issues, or is out sick. HTM Biomedical Manager, Supervisor Business Operations, and Imaging Team will report to this position in those cases the Director is out of office.
