The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) III enhances the patient experience by ensuring comfort, safety, and culturally sensitive care in partnership with patients, families, and healthcare providers. All direct patient care is supervised and delegated by a Registered Nurse per Ohio Board of Nursing guidelines. PCA III independently completes tasks, demonstrates critical thinking, and escalates concerns as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:

3+ Years of Experience Required. Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and EMR systems preferred

EDUCATION: High School Diploma required

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3+ Years of Experience Required.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Required


Clinical: Perform clinical tasks as delegated by the RN, including EKGs, phlebotomy, ostomy care, and obtaining urine specimens from Foley catheters. Maintain patient confidentiality and act as a clinical expert on the unit.

Leadership & Accountability: Lead communication, foster collaboration, and proactively solve problems. Mentor and precept new staff, support onboarding, and participate in unit councils, committees, and improvement initiatives. Manage scheduling and patient workloads in partnership with leadership.

Environment and Safety: Ensure patient and unit safety, identify and address safety hazards, and implement solutions.

Comfort: Provide patient comfort and hygiene, exemplify world-class patient experience, and model best practices for staff.

Communication: Orient patients and families, communicate unit and network updates, and lead process changes. Apply emotional intelligence in all interactions.
