Position Type: Full-time, Inpatient, Day/night rotation
Position Description:
The CVICU team in Cincinnati is seeking enthusiastic, team-centered Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to join our growing inpatient cardiovascular critical care service. This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, collaborative environment caring for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions. Coverage includes day, night, weekend and holiday shifts on a rotational basis.
The CVICU APP will work closely with an excellent multidisciplinary team of Intensivists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Cardiologists, and other APPs to provide world-class comprehensive care to critically ill patients, including those with advanced heart failure, acute coronary syndromes (ASC) and cardiogenic shock. Key duties include:
Prior Cardiology ICU APP And/or RN ICU Experience Preferred.
Education: Graduate from accredited Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
License/Certification:
OR
Physician Assistant: Graduate from accredited physician assistant program with a Master's Degree Physician Assistant Certification (verified by the National Commission or the Certification of Physician Assistant - NCCPA. Current, valid license (registration) by the state Medical Board of Ohio or applicable state medical board. Current Certificate to prescribe by the State Medical Board of Ohio.

The CVICU APP will work closely with an excellent multidisciplinary team of Intensivists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Cardiologists, and other APPs to provide world-class comprehensive care to critically ill patients, including those with advanced heart failure, acute coronary syndromes (ASC) and cardiogenic shock. Key duties include:
- Managing patients requiring advanced mechanical circulatory support (Impella, IABP, VV and VA ECMO)
- Performing and interpreting invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Insertion and management of arterial lines, central venous catheters, and Swan-Ganz catheters
- Performing endotracheal intubations
- Collaborating in daily multidisciplinary rounds and coordinating transitions of care
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Line and airway procedures
- Mechanical circulatory support device management
- 555 bed hospital in the heart of Cincinnati, Ohio
- "The Heart Hospital" of the Tristate area and nationally amongst the Top 50
- 28 bed CVICU with major focus on cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, biventricular support, heart transplantation, total artificial heart, LVAD implantation
- Perioperative care for > 1000 Cardiopulmonary bypass cases per year
- Structural heart program performing TMVR, TTVR, TAVR, PV intervention, experimental protocols and novel devices
- ACGME accredited fellowship programs in Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Structural Interventional Cardiology - Faculty/Teaching opportunities if desired
- Affiliation with the Lindner Research Institute, Clinical Trial Research opportunities if desired
- Open CVICU with very collaborative collegial work environment - intensivist manages primarily with closed loop communication with heart failure cardiology, cardiac surgery and cardiac transplant surgery
- 2 Physicians during the day and one physician at night with 3 APPs during the day and 2 at night
Prior Cardiology ICU APP And/or RN ICU Experience Preferred.
Education: Graduate from accredited Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
License/Certification:
- DEA license
- BLS and ACLS certified
