Job Description
Operates mammography equipment to produce breast images. Assist Radiologist with needle localizations and any other special procedures required. Assist with additional admin duties when needed.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1 year exp. in Mammography (as of 10/1/94 – FDA).
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge and skill of operation of mammography equipment. Knowledge of sterile technique. 15 CE hours in mammography required within a 3 year period.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
ARRT Registered Technologist
Certified Mammographer
Ohio Radiologic Technologist License
CPR Certification – bi-annually

Responsibilities
Technologist related duties:
- Performs high quality mammography images in accordance with the Comprehensive Breast Center standards of performance.
- Utilizes radiation safety protection measures
- Practices cleanliness to equipment and room
- Documents on patient history sheet pertinent patient information.
- Knowledge of quialtiy control procedures
- Correctly tracks exams in PACS
- Tracks exams and charges correctly in the RIS
- Properly identify, prepare and document various medications during procedures
- Reconcile patient medications to ensure current medications will not interact with contrast media
- Treasts everyone in a courteous and respectful way
- Greets patients with a smile
- Does not discuss patients condition in public
- Handles customer complaints objectively and routes them properly
- Does not display negative sentimetns in front of patients
- Attempst to expedite house patient exams
- Explains exam to patient; engages patient in brief conversation to relax them
- Shows empathy for patient
- Uses discretion when communicating with patients
- Does not keep patient waiting while conducting personal conversations with coworkers
- Properly explains special procedures to patients and obtains consent in accordance with hospital policy
- Teaching done as needed
- Answers questions or refers patient to someone who can answer
- Pamphlet/Shower card
- Follows Special procedure instructions/protocols
- Documents exam and significant facts on the Patient History Form
- Tracks and Charges exams in the RIS
- Cooperation with radiologist in his/her request for additional imaging
- Properly prepares all paperwork necessary before performing patient exam
- Obtains patients signature on release form and faxes for prior images
- Answers phone according to department policy
- Checks order accuracy before patient exam
- Properly uses RIS in accordance to protocol
- Provides mobility of patient through exam
- Speaks distinctly to patient
- Maintains patient privacy
- Aware of patient loss of strength and flexibility
- Attemps to reduce patients anxiety and fears
- Explains procedure to patient and ascertains patient understands instructions recognizing that there is a decrease in mental performance and need.
- Recognizes patient’s decreased tolerance to hot/cold and tries to provide comfort
- Is careful in positioning patient realizing that skin is fragile
- Speaks distinctly but does not raise voice
- Maintains patient privacy
- Attempts to reducat patients anxiety and fears
- Provides for mobility to patient through any needed physical assistance
- Repeats instructions if necessary
- Provides assistance in guiding patient into equipment
- Notifies patient of need to return for additional imaging
- Notifies physician office of need for biopsy
- Prepares all necessary paperwork for special procedures
- Contacts physicians office/pathologys departments and/or the patient for follow-up biopsy results
