We are seeking a Night Shift Laboratory Supervisor to provide operational and technical leadership for our laboratory services during overnight hours. This is a critical leadership role for a motivated lab professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and values teamwork, quality, and accountability. The Night Shift Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations during assigned overnight hours to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant diagnostic testing. This role supervises technical staff, supports workflow optimization, ensures regulatory compliance, and serves as the escalation point for operational or technical issues during the shift.
- Supervise and support laboratory staff during the night shift, fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and accountability
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of test results in accordance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements
- Monitor staffing, workflow, and productivity; adjust assignments as needed to meet patient care demands
- Serve as the on‑site laboratory leader and point of contact for physicians, nursing leadership, and hospital administrators overnight
- Troubleshoot operational, technical, and staffing issues to minimize service disruptions
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and organizational policies
- Assist with training, competency assessments, performance feedback, and staff development
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support continuous process improvement
- Collaborate with laboratory management to maintain consistency across shifts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field or equivalent lab training and experience defined in CLIA Regs
- Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or certification through other national certifying agency preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in an acute hospital setting, including prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, workflows, and regulatory standards
- Proven leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to make sound decisions independently during overnight hours
