Neonatology NICU Hospitalist

The Perinatal Institute at Cincinnati Children's is currently seeking a Full-time, NICU, Hospitalist

Clinical exposure is rich and stimulating, ensuring development of strong bedside clinical acumen. Clinical effort will include service at one or more of Children’s Level IV NICU, (5) Level III and (9) Level II NICUs as well as delivery attendance, stabilization care and well-newborn exams and discharges. This position includes opportunities for mentorship and teaching of medical students, residents, nursing, and allied health care professionals as well as participation in newborn-focused quality improvement and clinical projects.

This position offers flexible, alternative work schedules focused on night and weekend shifts with time off during the weekday, which is rewarded with a competitive compensation package.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual.

Qualifications

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide safe and effective medical care to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center patients. Follows care guideline and treatment protocols for infant; children and adolescent patients and to aid in their mental and physical growth and development. Participates in all department/division activities and initiatives. Maintains good standing in the department

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

·Patient Care
Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, education and experience. Participate in safe, effective and compassionate patient care, commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility. Examine patients to determine presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices. Determine nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribe and administer medications and immunizations. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care. May formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment. May also plan and coordinate care, treatment and rehabilitation for discharged patients.
·Effective Communication
Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Provide data which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
·Development of Clinical Excellence
Actively participates in department/division and system learner training and educational programs. Maintains currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars.
·Policy Compliance
Maintains good standing in the department by compliance to licensure and credentialing criteria. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:
·Doctor of Medicine OR Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent
·Unrestricted licensed physician
·Approval/credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division
·Completion of all required pre-employment activities

Preferred:
Pediatrician
