Dependently Licensed Social Worker (LSW), School Based Team

Department/Unit: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, School Based Team

Hours/FTE: 40/Full-time

Location: Lakota Schools

Expected Starting Salary: $28.50/hr

The department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking LSW-licensed social workers who are eager to advance their careers by obtaining their LISW certification in partnership with our School Based Therapy Program. School Based Therapists partner with area school districts to improve access to care within the community. This optional and confidential service is offered in addition to existing services provided by school counselors and psychologists. Supervision of employment experience that is required for licensure as an independent social worker shall be provided according to independent licensure guidelines within the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.

Working under supervision as a School-Based Social Worker a at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center you will:

  • Partner with area school districts to improve access to care within the community. This optional and confidential service is offered in addition to existing services provided by school counselors and psychologists.
  • Deliver services in the school setting and are trained to work with various challenges facing youth, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, major life changes and difficulty with social relationships. Sessions are held during the school day, which provides a great deal of convenience for busy families.
  • Consistently integrate age specific and culturally diverse concepts into patient care, taking into consideration both the patient's chronological age and developmental functioning.
  • Partner with the patient/family/caregivers in obtaining community resources. Maintain fluent knowledge of internal and external resources. Provide real time accurate information to patient/family/caregiver for resources for which they are eligible.
  • Identify and advocate for the needs of the patient/families/caregivers within the healthcare system and community. Act as a liaison between the patient/family/caregiver within the medical team and outside agencies. Empower the patient/family/caregiver to problem-solve by exploring options of care when available and alternative plans, when necessary, to achieve desired outcomes. Facilitate communication and coordination between members of the health care team while involving the patient/family/caregiver in the decision-making process in order to minimize fragmentation of services.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Social work
  • LSW license with the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board
  • Previous related experience
  • Clinical supervision will be provided to candidates as required by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work, and Marriage and Family Board for independent licensure.
