SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION:
At Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, this role supports Electronic Medical Record software related to patient care delivery, registration, scheduling, and billing. The position partners with clinical, revenue cycle, and operational support staff to develop, implement, and maintain software solutions to support optimal care delivery and healthcare operations.
As a Lead Epic Analyst, you will be equipped with the necessary technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic vision, and will contribute to enhance productivity by streamlining our Epic system workflows and optimizing user experience. You will proactively identify and address technical issues to minimize downtime, implement robust security measures to safeguard patient data and ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT department. Additionally, you will collaborate with stakeholders to align technology initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Build/Configuration/Release Management
- Analyze, design, implement, and maintain complex systems that greatly improve clinical care and patient management.
- Support system testing and document testing outcomes.
- Proficient in problem-solving and the identification of technical solutions.
- Collaborate on strategic planning to support area and enterprise software/technology needs.
- Utilize development lifecycle process, operating procedures, and documentation to implement and support system solutions.
Leadership and Mentoring
- Take ownership of tasks with a sense of urgency and drive them to completion.
- Take initiative and drive team projects.
- Mentor and assist team members.
- Work with management on the vision and direction for the team.
- Participate in short-range planning and provide input to long-range planning for the team.
- Lead departmental process improvement efforts.
- Strategize with end users and vendors to ensure that clinical system applications and accompanying training programs and materials remain current and support global and unique patient care delivery processes.
- Lead activities of personnel as they pertain to assigned projects.
- Perform supervisory tasks and evaluations for direct reports, including identifying goals and areas for development (if applicable).

Project Management
- Lead/Assign the design, development, and implementation of new and enhanced EMR requests.
- Develop and manage project plans and other project-related documentation.
- Determine the scope of highly complex projects.
- Coordinate the appropriate resources, costs, timeline, and expectations.
- Manage team portfolio to ensure resource balance.
- Oversee the development and validation requirements for system solutions in conjunction with the end user community.
- Lead fit/gap sessions for new application implementation.
- Represent department in the development and needs analysis sessions to ensure the best approach to problem-solving and meeting customers’ needs.
- Utilize creativity and foresight to overcome obstacles and find innovative ways to improve the efficiency of departmental processes and software.
- Collect information necessary for future systems development and feasibility studies.
- Evaluate current systems for quality/utilization.
- Lead discussions with 3rd-party developers to review potential software development solutions for integrated build issues.
Manage Customer Relationships
- Maintain collaborative professional relationships with customer groups and key stakeholders.
- Ensure outstanding end-user support is provided, including ongoing monitoring of Service Level Agreements for incident management and collaboration with other areas to ensure customer-centered incident management and support.
- Optimize, adhere to, and promote continual adoption of change management policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of personal accountability.
- Model outstanding customer service behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with customers.
- Always maintain CCHMC’s service standards of being Courteous, Attentive, Respectful, Enthusiastic, and Safe (CARES).
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 years of work experience in a related job discipline
Preferred:
- Epic certifications in at least one of the following: Cadence, Referrals, MyChart, Welcome.
- Proficiency with industry tools for incident, enhancement, and project management, such as ServiceNow.
- Expertise in project management.
- Expertise in leading meetings, resolving barriers, developing consensus and scoping in a complex healthcare environment.
- Experience collaborating with revenue cycle operations leadership to align informatics solutions with operational needs.
