Expected Starting Salary Range: $21.21 – 24/hr

Shift: Fulltime M-F

Physical and mental health wellness programs

Working as a Coding Rep I at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center you will:

Prepare and forward patient claims to appropriate third-party payers.

Analyze and review claims to ensure that payer-specific billing requirements are met.

Follow up on billing, determine and apply appropriate adjustments, answer inquiries and update accounts as necessary.

Maintain currency of CMS, State of Ohio, official coding and other guidelines, rules and regulations and apply principles as appropriate.

Successfully complete continuing education to maintain credentials.

Review and screen the medical record to abstract clinical data and enter reliable information into Epic, and/or Fastrack, as appropriate.

Assign ICD-10-CM and/or CPT codes to accounts in an accurate and ethical manner utilizing 3M encoding software and coding manuals.

Review encounters holding for additional documentation or other clarification on a regular basis to ensure completion of coding for timely billing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

No experience required

Certification/credentialed as at least one of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Info Admin (RHIA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Coding Specialist -Physician (CCS-P) – OR must obtain credentials within 6mo of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Healthcare related experience

Knowledge of various medical coding principles and technology

Proficient with MS Office, and Windows applications
