JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Care- Major responsibilities include assisting pre, during, and post clinic care as well as assisting in the genetics laboratory genetic testing workflow. Clinical responsibilities include: preparing genetic counseling charts with all needed documents, including previous genetic testing results; answering patient questions prior to or following appointments; obtaining patients' family histories; coordinating genetic testing (order entry, sample coordination, and sample packaging); medical records requests; providing information about insurance pre-authorization to patients or providers.
Core Skills- Assist genetic counselors and other health care providers in the provision of basic genetic counseling services in the conduct of healthcare.
Laboratory- Responsibilities include: coordination of testing (including tracking pre-authorization, sample coordination, and ensuring all paperwork relevant to testing is received), report writing, literature review, reconciling reports, and sample failure notifications.
Additional Duties- Projects such as assisting in the development of educational material, data entry for grants, patient scheduling, etc. will be assigned as needed. This position requires the following characteristics: careful attention to detail, ability to prioritize and organize projects, ability to problem solve, ability to work with deadlines, and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare workers.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in related field
