JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Equipment Operation- Expected to operate pressure washer and industrial cage washers, perform and document functions performed in the appropriate log, and clean and maintain all cages, automatic water lines, and other related equipment.

  • Animal Care- Feeding & watering animals according to their prescribed diets; Observing animals regularly during the day, noting & reporting any variances in eating, drinking or deviation from normal habits, to include obvious health issues with behavior, skin conditions, etc.; Observing & reporting changes in environmental parameters (i.e., temperature, humidity, lighting, etc.); Assisting in maintaining records of animals such as: weight, inoculation, experimentation, breeding, etc.

  • Incoming Animals- Transferring animals between buildings, cages, laboratories & holding areas; May drive van to transfer animals to Liberty; Completes these duties on a very limited basis - no more than 20% of overall job duties & responsibilities

  • Administration- Completes cage wash activities check-lists, logs & documentation accurately & within appropriate time-frames; Analyze trends for efficient processing for needed inventory, Predictive upkeep of equipment maintenance including water machine; Documents & reports equipment malfunctions to management; Maintains proper record keeping of washer & sterilizer quality assurance testing; Completes housekeeping logs and documentation accurately and within appropriate time frames; Maintains appropriate inventory levels of housekeeping supplies.

  • Training- Attends DVS sponsored training sessions, species specific identification & treatment sessions. Obtains training regarding equipment maintenance and or animal care taking duties.

Provides overall support of regulatory compliance and the needs for the facility and animal research. Understand and supports non-barrier animal care-taking duties.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS TECHNICIAN I

  • High school diploma or GED

JOB QUALIFICATIONS TECHNICIAN II

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 2+ years related experience

  • Current driver's license
