Student II - IS - Data Engineering + MS Fabric Migration

Brief Description of Role & Responsibility: This position will have the opportunity to work on projects and tasks to help design and streamline workflows that support transitioning teams from on-prem technologies to Microsoft Fabric, combining workflow mapping with automation initiatives to improve efficiency across engineering activities. An ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or similar field.
The program provides an opportunity for students to acquire workflow development, leverage data querying skills, and be introduced to cloud-based data platforms, gaining real-world experience and seeing emerging technologies as they are used in the field. Most of this work will be done in a remote setting, with some work done in the office.
Candidates will be exposed to many areas of the data engineering field and gain an understanding of managing that work in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Map Current Footprint: Document existing on-prem investments, identifying gaps between current capabilities and cloud-based functionality.
· Design Future-State Processes: Develop optimized process flow plans for migrating on-prem data assets to Microsoft Fabric.
· Support Automation Initiatives: Collaborate with technology teams to identify areas for potential automation and assist in implementing solutions that streamline the migration process.
· Analyze Migration Progress: Track and report on progress against migration needs based on process and automation implementations.
· Prepare Communication Materials: Create clear documentation and presentations for leadership on workflow and automation improvements along with progress towards mapped migrations.

Work closely with both business and technology teams, developing valuable cross-functional collaboration skills. Build a practical understanding of cloud-based
platforms and data engineering processes, preparing you for future opportunities in technology-driven data deliver. Gain experience and awareness of the academic, technical and personal skills required in healthcare/research professions. Gain an understanding of different health/research careers, including the cultures and work environments that can be unique to a particular healthcare/research profession. Develop an understanding of the critical connections between education, work and goal attainment. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Complete Cincinnati Children's training required for the position. Adhere to safe work practices. Understand, adhere to and model Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the department / unit.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Must be currently enrolled in a degree granting college program.
Preferred skills & qualifications include:
· Background in business process analysis, operations, or management.
· Interest in data engineering and cloud-based data platforms.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, SQL proficiency.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
