Position Summary

The Student Worker supports the Anderson Center Business Intelligence team by assisting with SQL database migrations, data governance initiatives, and change management activities. This role offers hands-on IT experience within a large healthcare organization, providing exposure to clinical data environments while building practical, professional skills in data systems and analytics.

Job Responsibilities

  • Convert, validate, and migrate T-SQL queries from an on-premises SQL Server database to source Microsoft Fabric lakehouses in the cloud.
  • Maintain and update operational definitions and related project documentation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate handoff meetings to deliver completed work and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Provide regular status updates and proactively identify, escalate, and track technical issues.
  • Comply with data security and governance standards to ensure the protection of protected health information (PHI).

Learning Opportunities

  • Hands-on experience with large healthcare data, including Epic Clarity and Caboodle databases.
  • Exposure to end-to-end data processes and a range of data roles supporting the division’s portfolio of metrics, reports, and analytics.
  • Opportunities to learn how data and quality improvement impact and transform operational decision-making.
  • Development of professional and technical skills through cross-collaboration with various data teams.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a college program in data analytics, database management, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, including query design, optimization, and change tracking.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply technical skills across varying contexts.
  • Ability to adapt and operate effectively in agile environments and workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Understanding of data sensitivity and a commitment to maintaining data security and protecting protected health information (PHI).
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, curious, resourceful, responsive, self-driven, and well-organized.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Sharepoint, and Power Platform.
  • Understanding of end-to-end solutions and workflows, from database management to reporting and analytics.
