JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership- Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Requires in-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies, and the organization's goals. Appropriate management of the division's budget and use of organizational resources required. Responsible for the success and financial operations of US Business Development.
Product and Market Development- In conjunction with the VP of Business Development responsible for developing new market initiatives, assessing new markets and new geographies, analyzing business opportunities and the development. Conducts financial feasibility studies and develops proposals for new business opportunities. Provides business development advice and acts as a liaison with the Center for Technology Commercialization on licensing agreements and start-up companies. Will work with professional sales force to develop and launch CCHMC products and services.
Strategic Business Development- Provides strategic leadership in developing and launching products and services that will strengthen the revenue stream and financial diversification of the organization. Working with the Business Development Managers, evaluates US business opportunities: existing/new product rollouts, partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, mergers and/or acquisitions that fit within the overall corporate strategy. Makes recommendations to the VP of Business Development for new projects linked to strategic business decisions. In conjunction with their team, senior leadership and faculty, plans and evaluates projects by determining market opportunities, development of new services and geographies; determining the project's financial viability and operations rollout. Assesses transactions, evaluates business dealings to best optimize the company's reach. Responsible for helping to lead project development, including coordinating marketing and sales and financing for program and services developed. Finally, help to support U.S. patient referral efforts.
Strategic Relationships- In conjunction with the VP of Business Development identifies, develops and manages strategic relationships with an array of domestic healthcare organizations, primarily with other hospitals as well as industry and consultants. Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementation of strategic business objectives. Identifies potential business partners and negotiates agreements. Coordinates with divisions and departments on new and expanded product and service development and sales. Coordinates with the VP of Business Development and Senior Leadership to ensure merger/acquisition/partnership activities support long-term organization plans.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Preferred: MBA or MHA
10+ years related experience primarily in Business Development and/or Value Proposition/Product Development Management
5+ years leading teams (direct and cross-functional) in either: medical device/equipment/service company; healthcare consulting; or complex medical center medical device/equipment/service company; healthcare consulting; or complex medical center
Experience leading new product development and launch in a matrix organization
Experience developing strategy and leading execution
Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in closing complex, high-value CDMO deals (early development through commercial supply)
- Deep technical understanding of CGT manufacturing processes, including upstream/downstream, analytical development, and cGMP operations
- Existing network within biotech/pharma CGT ecosystem
- Experience supporting IND/BLA-enabling programs and regulatory considerations is a plus
- Familiarity with pricing strategies, contract structures, and risk-sharing models in CDMO partnerships
- Strong executive presence with ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
- Strong understanding of CGT modalities, including viral vectors (AAV, LVV), cell therapies (CAR-T, TCR-T), and gene editing platforms
