Our Commercial Casualty department is seeking an underwriting professional for a product development and book management position. This individual will have strong knowledge of General, Professional and Commercial Umbrella/Excess Liability forms, rules, rates, underwriting and processing systems. This individual will drive product enhancements aligned with Commercial Casualty priorities through cost-effective solutions that improve underwriting execution/efficiency and deliver consistent communication to all applicable underwriting teams. This individual will develop and update technical guidance, procedures, training, and communication material for all Commercial Casualty Products. This individual will have comprehension of line of business metrics leveraged to manage the Commercial Casualty book of business. Collaboration skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with cross functional resources, including Claims, Loss Control, Underwriting, Actuarial, Filings, Information Technology, and other Specialist Groups are critical to success in this role. This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio.
Many departments at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio, offer hybrid work options, empowering associates to work from home several days a week. Depending on your role and responsibilities, hybrid options may be available for those working at headquarters.
The pay range for this position is $85,000 - $125,000 annually. The pay determination is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
Be ready to:
- understand price adequacy and rating structure. Assist with solutions to enhance effectiveness of net rate changes and profitability
- establish and drive strategies to achieve profitable growth across all Casualty Products. Lead projects to identify/analyze business segments that require action and provide direction to establish/inform effective strategies that enhance underwriting execution
- design and lead technology implementations to improve underwriting execution, operational efficiency and broaden product capabilities.
- demonstrate the ability to lead projects from concept to production that improve results for all Casualty Products
- provide expert product and underwriting guidance to underwriting teams for individual risk assessment including trusted advice regarding appetite, policy terms/conditions, pricing and capacity management. This advice includes navigation and interpretation of filings, appropriate use of forms, proper classification, pricing tools, and various other tools to ensure consistent and compliant underwriting execution
- provide subject matter expertise to develop and deliver technical underwriting presentations and training content
- create and update underwriting procedures and guidelines specific to all Casualty Products
Be equipped with:
Requirements:
- minimum of 5 years of related experience
- strong knowledge of Casualty lines of business: products, forms, pricing, performance and trends including Verisk (ISO) products and services
- understands Casualty portfolio metrics, assists with evaluation and action on results (financial and operational)
- strong communication/collaboration skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of an organization (Claims, Loss Control, Underwriting, Actuarial, Filings, Information Technology, etc.), including proficient communication of complex coverage, underwriting and strategic business initiatives
Bring education and experience from:
- bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- CPCU or other insurance professional designation preferred
