Build your future with us
Our Life Underwriting and Policy Issue department seeks an underwriter III or IV. This role is responsible for assisting in proper risk selections, ordering and reviewing medical requirements and developing favorable work relationships with agents and associates.
The pay range for this position is $100,000-$125,000 annually. Pay is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
Be ready to:
- review submitted applications and determine the overall acceptability based on adequate pricing and standard underwriting principles
- maintain overall quality and efficiency of work performed within the team
- assist in training other associates on the team
- assist in teaching continuing education classes for underwriters and agent schools
- serve as an underwriting expert and be available for special projects and task forces
- assist in the development of new forms, procedures and programs
- serve as a referral underwriter
Be equipped with:
- general knowledge of the insurance industry
- leadership skills
- the ability to work independently
- effective communication skills
- excellent decision-making skills
- an understanding of current events, market conditions, financial underwriting and the functions of other departments within the company
Bring education and experience from:
- an AALU designation or equivalent life underwriting experience
- a continued pursuit of accredited insurance certifications (such as the FLMI, FALU or CLU)
