Our Corporate Finance department seeks a technical accounting manager to focus on assumed and retrocession reinsurance.This role is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio.
The pay range for this position is $120,000-$160,000 annually. Pay is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
Be ready to:
Provide Team Leadership and Oversight
- review, approve, and provide guidance on journal entries, reconciliations, and reports prepared by the team
- ensure work is completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with GAAP, Statutory, and internal control requirements
- assist with workload planning, prioritization, and issue escalation
Provide Oversight of Assumed and Retrocession Reinsurance Data
- review reinsurance system entries and ensure consistency with contract terms
- oversee cash flow analysis and reinsurance accounts receivable management
- participate in contract interpretation discussions with underwriters and actuaries, providing accounting guidance
- oversee and review retrocession-related calculation modules and reconciliations

review and approve monthly and quarterly retrocession billing invoices and settlements
- oversee cash flow analysis and retrocession accounts receivable management
- provide oversight of statutory collateral and security requirements
Provide Financial Reporting and Regulatory Support
- provide GAAP and Statutory reporting oversight for internal and external reporting
- review and approve mandatory regulatory filings for The Cincinnati Insurance Company
- review assigned sections of quarterly and annual NAIC statutory statements
- support audited financial statements and act as a key reviewer and coordinator for internal audits, external audits, and state examinations
Contribute to Special Projects and Process Improvements
- lead or support special projects as assigned, including system enhancements and process improvements
- review and guide the development of revenue and expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations
- ensure project timelines and deliverables are met while maintaining quality standards
Be equipped with:
- previous experience reviewing and approving accounting work and financial reports
- strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities through others
- effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- the ability to work independently under time constraints while recognizing when to escalate or seek guidance
- demonstrated ability to build strong cross‑functional partnerships and drive alignment across underwriting, actuarial, claims and technology teams
- strong organizational discipline with the ability to set expectations, delegate effectively and hold teams accountable
Bring education and experience from:
- a bachelor's degree in accounting (required)
- a Certified Public Accountant license (preferred)
- at least seven years of accounting experience (required); 10 or more years (preferred)
