Our Claims Operations department is currently seeking a Claims Data Analyst (I-III). A Claims Data Analyst is responsible for understanding and analyzing claims data, creating reports, completing data requests, identifying and interpreting data trends, and presenting results to stakeholders. This analyst will work closely with internal and external customers to translate business needs into clear requirements and deliver solutions. This role involves frequent collaboration with IT to enhance deliverables. As a Claims Data Analyst, the responsibilities scale with experience and proficiency, so the candidate can be expected to fulfill leadership roles on projects, mentor fellow team members, establish and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, and independently manage workload.
Starting pay: The pay range for this position is $55,000 - $90,000 annually. Pay is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
Be ready to:
participate in or lead meetings with customers to understand data and reporting needs
build strong relationships with Claims leadership and stakeholders
create routine and ad hoc reports based on requests throughout the organization
develop and validate reports, dashboards, and large-scale trending analyses
extract and validate information from multiple data sources
perform statistical analyses for projects and summarize results
identify trends in data and provide actionable insights
partner with IT to investigate data discrepancies, resolve data issues, document requirements, and test system enhancements
understand how claims data is transformed from a source system to multiple downstream systems, including how the data is used in legacy systems, agency/insured portals, and in corporate data warehouses
help define and improve reporting processes
independently review and interpret data requests and follow through with timely reporting
ensure accuracy and consistency of claims data across data sources
serve as a subject matter expert for Claims data on corporate-level projects
explore and implement new reporting tools and solutions
proactively find ways to improve and automate processes, keeping efficiency at the forefront of work efforts
participate in peer review and mentor other analysts, depending on experience
Be equipped with:
the ability to proactively identify, build, and maintain relationships with stakeholders
strong problem-solving skills
keen attention to detail
clear written and verbal communication skills
ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
fluency with advanced Microsoft® Excel functionality including pivot tables, Power Query, combination charts, vlookups, and complex calculations
experience with data analysis, reporting, and creating queries to extract data
knowledge of Power BI or other data visualization software preferred
ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently
quick to learn new technical concepts and adapt to change
focus on improving processes and finding efficiencies
experience with or willingness to learn Excel macros, VBA, or other common coding languages (i.e. SAS, SQL, or DAX, etc.),
Bring education and experience from:
qualified candidates have earned a bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics or information technology-related fields or related experience
preferred knowledge of insurance industry and risk management
professional insurance designations are preferred but not necessary
knowledge of statistical analyses
familiar with data models and tools like PowerPivot
preferably 2+ years hands-on experience with reporting tools like SAP Business Warehouse, Power BI, Cognos or other tools for analytics and reporting
experience using SAS, R, SPSS or other statistical packages is desirable
