Instructor - Finance (Tenure Track) Overview: Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Finance Instructor. The ideal candidate will teach a variety of college-level finance courses primarily for the Finance degree and the Banking and Financial Services and Financial Counselor Certificates in the Business Division. As part of our team of highly qualified faculty, Finance instructors are expected to provide high-quality instruction, collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to enhance student learning experience, and uphold the mission and values of the College. Instruction may take place in a classroom on any Cincinnati State campus or via online learning modalities. The full-time instructor will serve as program chair of the Finance program and the related certificates at the request of the dean. Program chair responsibilities and associated compensation (additional workload units) assigned for these duties are described in the AAUP Collective Bargaining Agreement in Article 9 Section K (1-3). Faculty Essential Responsibilities: - Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom/online environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
- Teach assigned introductory and upper-level Finance courses as scheduled in response to institutional needs.
- Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by established course descriptions, course objectives and syllabi.
- Provide students with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines and proactively support all facets of the learning environment.
- Assess student performance in achieving course objectives and post student grades in the online gradebook in a timely manner.
- Respond to requests (e.g., from students, student support services, committee chairs) in a timely and thorough manner.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all semester reporting responsibilities by designated due date.
- Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction for students with differing backgrounds and learning styles by utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
- Provide academic advice to students, including information regarding the curriculum, scheduling, co-operative education, career opportunities and college resources.
- Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials.
- Assist in the development of new courses/curricula and the maintenance of existing courses/curricula.
- Maintain office hours in accordance with faculty contract.
- Support Higher Learning Commission accreditation requirements for the Finance Program.
- Participate in the Cincinnati State peer-mentoring program.
- Participate in various college and community service activities.
- Attend program, departmental, divisional, and college meetings.
- Attend and contribute to assigned college committees.
- Serve as program chair at the request of the dean.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in finance or business with a major/concentration in finance from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum three years of experience in the finance profession.
- Ability to travel to any campus location in Hamilton and/or Butler Counties to complete assigned duties.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs may require.
- Computer competency to maintain essential instructor records, provide online instruction, and complete day-to-day business operations.
Preferred Qualifications: - Master’s degree in finance or related degree from an accredited college or university.
- Finance certification/license, such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) or related certification/license.
- Experience using diverse methods of classroom technology and innovative instructional/academic support systems and programs.
- Experience teaching in a community college environment.
- Experience teaching on-line.
- Experience with Brightspace, Ellucian Colleague and/or Starfish systems.
