The Summer 2026 Internship opportunity in the Office of Budget and Evaluation will provide a unique experience to a student interested in learning and mentorship from Budget Office staff. The student will ultimately be responsible for contributing to the following projects and associated work products.
Revamping the Performance Measures Section in the City’s Budget Documents. This opportunity will involve assessing the City’s current performance measures presentation in the City’s budget document and making recommendations to revamp the section. This project would also entail reviewing other major cities’ performance measures reporting. Much like the typical experience of a full-time Budget Analyst, this assignment will require engaging with the Office of Performance and Data Analytics to conduct this research.
Assisting with the City’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Recommended Budget Update process, including conducting research, attending public budget hearings, and providing general support to budget ordinance development and other sundry tasks.
Assisting with the development and publication of the City's Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Approved All Funds Budget Update documents. This experience will provide a broad view of the City's organizational structure, an introduction to how municipal governments in Ohio develop and approve the annual budget, as well as the City’s process of determining funding prioritization through the allocation of limited resources. The deliverables would be in the form of contributions to the City’s FY 2027 Approved All Funds Budget Update and Budget-in-Brief documents.
