Job Opportunity – Director of Accounting – Wilberforce University – Wilberforce, OH
Salary Range - $80k to $90k annually

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to manage our accounting operations. You will oversee general ledger, financial reporting, compliance, and audit coordination, ensuring accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports.
- Manage audit processes and liaise with external auditors.
- Maintain compliance with financial regulations.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff (4).
- Develop and maintain internal controls.
- Collaborate with departments across campus.
- Serve as a Banner Finance system expert (our accounting platform).
- Implement new accounting procedures and system enhancements.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software.
- Leadership and supervisory experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in higher education.
- Experience with nonprofit or governmental fund accounting.
- Familiarity with GASB standards.
- Experience with financial aid and grant accounting.
