Your Testing Rigor. Their Confidence. Your Best Career Move.

At COA, QA Testers help ensure the reliability and accuracy of the technology that supports older adults and caregivers across Southwestern Ohio. You’ll put your testing expertise to work behind the scenes—making sure our systems are stable, compliant, and user-friendly—while enjoying flexibility, trust, and a supportive, mission-driven culture.

Job Summary

The QA Tester ensures the delivery of reliable, high-quality software by evaluating new and existing applications to identify defects, validate functionality, and support overall product performance. This role applies established QA practices, conducts both manual and automated testing, and collaborates closely with technical and business teams to enhance user experience, maintain compliance standards, and support continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.

In this role, you will:

  • Work across core systems (including Microsoft Dynamics/CRM and related applications) that power COA’s programs, billing, and reporting.
  • Help protect sensitive data by aligning testing practices with HIPAA and PHI requirements.
  • Partner with developers, analysts, and business owners to ensure technology supports the way our teams truly work—reliably, efficiently, and with the end user in mind.

How You’ll Make a Difference

Quality & Compliance

  • Apply established QA processes to validate the accuracy, stability, and functionality of software applications.
  • Ensure all testing activities meet HIPAA, PHI, and internal compliance standards, helping protect client data and organizational reputation.
  • Support readiness and quality of applications prior to release, including sign-off on testing outcomes and risk considerations.
  • Help standardize QA practices across projects, reinforcing consistent expectations and quality thresholds.

Testing Execution & Validation

  • Conduct both manual and automated testing across new and existing applications, including web-based platforms, internal tools, and integrations.
  • Execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts aligned with system requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform regression testing after enhancements, fixes, or releases to ensure existing functionality remains stable.
  • Conduct performance and post-release testing to monitor system stability after deployment and identify any emergent issues.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to refine test coverage, including edge cases, integration points, and real-world user scenarios.

Defect Identification & Management

  • Document defects clearly and accurately, including steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual results, and related system context.
  • Communicate findings to engineers, analysts, and project teams in a timely, objective, and constructive manner.
  • Create and track defect stories or tickets, ensuring proper prioritization within sprints and releases.
  • Participate in defect triage discussions to help balance risk, effort, and impact on end users.
  • Validate that fixes resolve identified issues without introducing new defects, including targeted regression around affected areas.

Project & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Participate in project planning, refinement, and review meetings to anticipate testing needs, dependencies, and potential risks.
  • Collaborate with developers, project managers, business analysts, and business stakeholders to resolve issues and improve system performance.
  • Provide clear, concise insights and recommendations to support decisions, including risk-based testing strategies when timelines are tight.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by helping define scenarios, guiding business testers, and consolidating feedback.
  • Serve as a QA advocate—helping teams understand the value of quality from early design through deployment.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain thorough records of testing phases, results, and defect status using established tools and templates.
  • Create and update testing documentation (e.g., test cases, checklists, regression suites, smoke test scripts) to support repeatable, efficient testing cycles.
  • Contribute to process improvement and promote best practices in QA methodologies, tools, and metrics.
  • Recommend enhancements that improve quality, reliability, and user experience—looking beyond single defects to underlying patterns or root causes.
  • Share knowledge with peers and cross-functional partners, building a culture of quality and continuous learning.

Key Systems & Tools You May Work With

Core platforms: Microsoft Dynamics/CRM and related systems
Testing practices: Manual testing, automation (where applicable), regression, performance, UAT support
Collaboration: Agile/iterative project teams, cross-functional stakeholders from IT, Finance, Operations, and Programs
