CLASS SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing the duties of a lead in various facilities maintenance areas. Review of plans for future jobs to ensure compliance, and compatibility with airport standards. Prepare time and material estimates on projects, repairs, and service requests. Create projects and service request work orders within a computer-based Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS). Schedule shutdowns of critical building assets for repairs. Point of contact for outside contractors for associated repairs or projects. May be responsible for multiple skilled trade disciplines and building systems throughout the airport. Other duties include snow removal and operating heavy equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments vary depending on the department's needs.

  • Supervises job duties of Facilities Maintenance technicians within their teams to ensure work is done in a timely, efficient, and craftsperson-like manner, evaluates and writes employee performance reviews, processes timesheets and assists with new hire processes.
  • Oversees projects and prioritizes work that best meets the needs of the airport.
  • Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance tasks on critical building systems.
  • Assist with scheduling and escorting contractors to complete critical tasks within the facility. Inspect contract installation and develop improvements to such processes.
  • Provide guidance to Planning and Development on future and existing system modifications.
  • Reviews CMMS entries of technicians, checks for accuracy in comments, materials, and labor entries
  • Work to improve quality assurance by improving organization efficiency and reducing waste.
  • Opens/closes scheduled and unscheduled work orders and approves/generates PMs.
  • Advises and assists technicians with difficult maintenance and repair problems.
  • Assures technicians are cross trained to do on-call jobs professionally. Trains technicians in associated skills.
  • Assures proper safety equipment is used and training developed and delivered to ensure safety and efficiency in the department.
  • Be knowledgeable of procedures and being the “on point” person for Contingency Plans due to weather, utility, conveyance outages, or other irregular airport operations.
  • Assists with researching and orders materials for jobs
  • Works with other departments to set schedules and coordinate jobs.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED and five years' experience in a related field; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Commercial Driver’s License – Class A or B (or the ability to acquire a Class B within 6 months of the hire date)
  • Maintain Security Identification Display Area Clearance (SIDA) clearance.
  • Obtain and maintain position appropriate NIMS & emergency training.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Various facilities maintenance equipment and tools depending on assignment;
  • OSHA and FAA regulations;
  • Blueprint reading and drafting;

SKILL IN:

  • Demonstrated skill in maintaining a variety of maintenance records;
  • Demonstrated skill in safely lifting/pulling loads to work areas;
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills;
  • Clearly and effectively communicating, both orally and in writing;
  • Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, and spreadsheets;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative, and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.

    ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

    Medium Work: exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
