Job Title: Pharma Solutions Manager

Job Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

At DHL Global Forwarding, PEOPLE matter. The Pharma Solutions Design Manager role will design and develop cold chain solutions for new or existing businesses within the Life Science Healthcare sector (Pharma in coordination with sector counterparts around the globe. Agility is needed as you translate customer needs into operational processes, complete financial analysis, work with a number of colleagues and partners to finalize a customer specific solution.

As a commercial operator and solution design leader, you are a sector subject matter expert whose main objective is to develop innovative and realistic logistics solutions that meet the customer’s requirements in terms of cost, quality, performance, train and manage the operations team to deliver the expected results. These solutions comprise packaging and lane validations, developing standard operating procedures, participate and support quality audits, financial acumen, labor planning, vendor relations, internal/external stakeholder development, automation, IT enablement, sustainable delivery and material handling requirements.

This role is foundationally rooted in executing solutions and operations that support business growth measured through gross profit, revenue, and tonnage while demonstrating the best version of Life Science Logistics in the market segment.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial operations responsibilities

  • Position participates and supports commercial, and operations to develop and implement strategies that support customer satisfaction, customer retention and growth.
  • Reviews daily operational performance for key LSHC customers to ensure service and financial KPI’s are achieved.
  • Engage and provide solutions and pricing for LSHC pricing proposals. This requires selecting solution based on customer requirements, requesting pricing for air and/or ocean business from key partners, complete financial analysis based on partner responses, complete and submit pricing as required by the customers.
  • Engages commercial and operations management in problem resolution to identify issues affecting work progress and recommends solutions with assistance from partners and DHL Team.
  • Provide Healthcare expertise and leadership to management, operational personnel, and customers.
  • Make sure process metrics are established and reported for process controls to ensure quality and service promise are achieved.
  • Develops and executes business flows and plans that incorporate the following components: time, cost, scope, quality, communications, risk, procurement, and systems integration.
  • Provide clear and concise project stakeholder communication, as well as internal team communication
  • Build and maintain effective cross-functional relationships with business leaders, global stakeholders, customers, commercial teams, regulatory, quality, finance, and other key stakeholders
  • Work with DHL Quality Team to design validation protocols and delivery of solutions for external and internal customers for adherence to the solution requirements
  • Understand and preempt customer needs and integrate this insight into sustainable solution designs
  • Develop detailed designs for the solution incorporating the scope of services, operating model, resource models, operating cost estimates, recommended selling price, estimated value for the client and draft P&L.
  • Capture core data and assumptions that are required to design, cost and price the solution for the customer. This includes the process for capturing all customer insights that might be relevant for this pursuit or future upselling opportunities
  • INVESTMENTS- Drive relevant conversations internal and external to define solution investments and market relevancy for sustained Life Science Healthcare growth.
  • TRAINING AND DEVELOPING Life Science Health Care knowledge in coordination with Product-Develop repeatable and clear training protocols incorporating roles and responsibilities as a tool kit for DHL DGF station and leadership with validation of programs administered.
  • OPERATIONS- Identify and grow local resources and networks within DHL and its partners for operational alignment on LSHC Pharma trade that is validated for the solution sets in operation.

Skills / Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in the field of Supply Chain Management or 5 years related experience in healthcare logistics.
  • Previous experience working in a large enterprise as a Supply Chain Manager, Pricing Analyst or Customer Program Manager in a complex multinational organization preferred.
  • Ability to handle complex situations with customers and multiple responsibilities simultaneously mixing long term projects with the urgency of immediate demands on the operations
  • Demonstrated ability to solve business problems
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills and interpersonal skills
  • Keen attention to detail with strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to influence in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Cold Chain and Quality background with demonstrated delivery
