DHL has a career opportunity for aSr. Engineer/Project Manager. The position works with the Head of Project Management, US Ground Operations. As aProject Manager you will represent Project Sponsors and will influence highly-motivated teams of multi-functional experts; implement and administer effective scoping, scheduling, and budgeting of facility development, and process improvement projects; and develop, use, and maintain project management tools.You will operate with considerable latitude, performing senior professional level work. Your creative and innovative management style will motivate others in developing innovative solutions to important, complex program requirements. Inter-department considerations are often present, as well as the potential to contribute to employees' professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate implementation of facility infrastructure strategy and engineering plans in line with multi-functional business strategy and objectives, corporate guidelines and policies
  • Monitor day-to-day operations of the team, prioritize and assign tasks to effectively apply team’s resources, and meet work schedules and targets
  • Guide preparation of cost benefit analysis for facility infrastructure projects for incorporation in the US Gateway strategy
  • Review efficient and effective delivery of all facility services and solutions aligned with business needs
  • Ensure planning and delivery of all major material/container handling equipment projects including integration projects within quality, time, cost and business constraints
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to the US Gateway portfolio, adhere to Global SOP governance mechanisms, optimize operational quality and consistency of the material/container handling systems within corporate guidelines
  • Develop and provide guidance to others to prepare facility designs, and evaluate risks and benefits of alternate designs
  • Advise testing/ training tools and new methodologies and oversee development and execution of mechanical and system testing and debugging plans
  • Develop future plans and recommendations for functional design initiatives
  • Scan and analyze marketplace, industry, company, vendor products, and services, etc. to stay updated with technology trends and standard processes
  • Periodically liaise with IT service providers for operational success
  • Collaborate, influence and facilitate communication between business and operations from initial requirements to final implementation to seek agreements and commitment
  • Detect issues and opportunities, and implement improved practices for equipment while focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency
  • Leads project meetings with partners to discuss issues, direction, and implementation strategies, and to solicit new viewpoints
  • Prepares timely and useful analyses, forecasts, and recommendations for assigned projects to ensure achievement of business objectives
  • Provides consistent and accurate information, research, and analysis to the Project Sponsor
  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project team members and other key partners
  • Meets with customers with intent to understand their unique needs
  • Develops and follows appropriate processes and procedures for accomplishing work
  • Assists in developing project deliverables
  • Provide functional guidance, advice and/or training to less experienced project team members

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experienced Professional contributor with responsibility for an advanced area of work in the professional field
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related subject area or 10-15 years of experience in related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail Entrepreneurial, innovative spirit, willingness to accept ownership and accountability
  • Seasoned professional with extensive knowledge in areas of material & container handling equipment, construction, and airport permitting
  • Consulting to management on major matters pertaining to policies, plans, and objectives
  • Powerful knowledge of technologies, processes, and practices
  • Current PMP Project Management Professional (Preferred)
  • Master Degree in related field (Preferred)
