Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for managing and responding to subpoenas issued by U.S. government agencies to DHL legal entities in the U.S. This role involves ensuring compliance with legal requirements, protecting organizational interests, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Your Tasks:

  • Review and Validate Subpoenas: Examine subpoenas to ensure they meet legal standards and identify the scope of requested information.
  • Document Identification and Collection: Identify, collect, and organize documents and electronic data relevant to the subpoena.
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure all responses comply with federal and state laws, including privacy and confidentiality regulations.
  • Coordination: Work closely with legal counsel, Security, IT, and other DHL departments to gather necessary information and prepare responses.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate the scope and terms of the subpoena with government agencies to protect DHL’s interests.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all subpoenas received and responses provided.
  • Training and Awareness: Educate others on the importance of compliance and the procedures for handling subpoenas.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree. Paralegal Certificate. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is preferred or a paralegal certificate with extensive work experience (i.e., 12 to 15 years of experience) .
  • Strong understanding (with support from DHL Legal Department attorneys, as necessary) of U.S. legal procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in creating efficient processes that simplify work.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing documents responsive to subpoenas to ensure they are within scope to produce.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate complex legal issues and find solutions that protect DHL.
