- The core responsibilities of this role include Operating a Yard Truck 100% of the day.
- Performing an inspection of the Yard Truck prior to operation.
- Properly hooking and unhooking to trailers.
- Inspecting trailers for damage/unsafe conditions and reporting them to management.
- Properly closing, latching, and sealing loaded trailers.
- Must adhere to all site safety rules.
- Occasional operation of an Armadillo Street sweeper when conditions are favorable.
- Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Yard.
- Occasional conduction of a Fuel Check.
- Making sure all loaded trailer’s Refrigeration Unit is running.
- Checking for adequate fuel level.
- Reporting any issues/alarms found with a unit to management.
Position: Yard Driver non-DOT
Shift: D Shift –; Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6 pm –; 6 am
*Work 36 hours, get paid for 40 hours*
Pay: $21.75 plus $1.00 shift differential
Additional Skills/Experience Required
- 6 months –; 1-year prior Over-the-Road and/or Yard Truck driving experience required.
- Experience must include hauling 53’ trailers.
- No manual transmission experience required.
- Experience with Refrigeration Units preferred.

Role Purpose:
Drives switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment to and from designated locations. Makes decisions in sequencing schedule to maintain efficient loading and unloading operations. Loads and unloads trailers and verifies product count. Maintains a clean and safe docking area and reports any maintenance or safety issues to supervision. Refuels vehicles on site and documents locations and condition of equipment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain safe and efficient dock operation by switching trailers and equipment to and from docks.
- Maintains equipment fuel levels and refuels equipment during appropriate times.
- Loads and unloads trucks, verifying the count and condition of product. Reports overages, shortages, and damages.
- Performs daily yard checks.
- Properly secures loads, ensuring loads are within local, state and federal guidelines.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and/or logs as required policies and procedures.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Notifies supervision of current or anticipated repair needs.
- Complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of one year verifiable experience driving, switching or commercial tractor
