DHL currently has an opening for a Collections Lead specializing in Freight/Duty Collections in our Houston, Texas, Customer Financial Support Center. This position will report directly to the Collection Supervisor and will assist the supervisor customer collection treatment and escalations.
Tasks & Accountabilities
- Holistic understanding of the current Collections Treatment Plan (CTP)
- Develop and identify best collections practices and disseminate to collection teams
- Participate in monthly inter-departmental meetings to improve processes
- Primary testers for new systems and system enhancements
- Prepare Team and Department presentations
- Audit escalation emails with collectors to ensure communications are precise and concise
- Serve as primary point of contact when Supervisor is out or unavailableLiaise with other supervisors and leads.
- Assist Supervisor with 820 Workbook distribution, review of monthly performance slides with collectors, and preparation and distribution of weekly AR reports
- Manage customer accounts, including payments and disputes
- Responds to billing questions and inquiries from internal or external customers.
- Verifies a variety of data for accuracy.
- Assist collectors with customer and system related issues and escalations.
- Researches/coordinates the resolution of incorrect, missing, or unclear information.
- Analyze banks and recommend way forward
- Resolves problems and escalates highly complex issues as necessary.
- Edits billing data from documents such as, invoices, airway bills, and computer-generated reports.
- Communicates with customer regarding any follow up billing issues
- Additional duties as requested
Skills & Qualifications
- Performs standard, specialized and complex aspects of the function. Technical certification or Associate degree preferred.
- Generally 4 or more years of experience in related area of responsibility.
- Advanced level Excel skills
- Professional telephone demeanor
- Detail and analytical orientated.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Other Tasks and Accountabilities:
Autonomy: Nature of work requires increasing independence. Receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.
Impact: Works independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments that have direct impact on department and area results. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results may cause delays in program schedules and may require a moderate expenditure of resources to rectify.
Knowledge: Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of moderately complex assignments.
People Management: May provide general guidance/direction or train junior level personnel in Associate and Professional roles.
Problem Complexity: Performs professional level work that typically requires processing and interpreting, more complex, less clearly-defined issues. Identifies problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action to resolve.
