DHL currently has an exciting opportunity available as a Clearance Trainer. The Clearance Trainer will be responsible for the scheduling and delivery of training programs (New Employee Orientation, mandated and recurrent training, and job specific training) to Gateway Clearance department employees in the America’s regions and management in both a warehouse and an office environment. Also, this candidate will be responsible for working with subject matter experts to develop training and job aids to support the needs of the business. Another key aspect of the Training Specialist responsibilities is to facilitate our CIS (Certified International Specialist) Induction program to newly hired employees from across the organization. This week long program introduces our newest employees to our organization and culture through film, discussion and activities at an off-site location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedules, delivers and facilitates training and development programs in support of the business goals and objectives
- Schedules and facilitates virtual training to various internal audiences at any DHL facility
- Conducts mandated training programs (air carrier and government specific), awareness training, new employee orientation and specific departmental training classes/programs
- Evaluates and confirms training programs meet expected business outcomes
- Researches, designs and develops new training programs, materials and job aides
- Ensures training material is updated, relevant and support current operation procedures
- Applies various training methods such as individual auditing/coaching, group instruction, meetings and workshops
- Keeps current on US Customs Brokerage related policies and procedures
- Tracks and analyzes course evaluations in order to judge effectiveness of training sessions and to implement suggestions for improvements
- Maintains training files and database for employees to ensure that the operation is compliant with all concerned regulatory agencies (TSA, FAA, US Customs, OSHA, and DOT ETC.)
- Manages calendar and schedules for required training classes
- Design, develop, and maintain reports that combine data from PeopleSoft and Learning Management System (LMS)
- May be asked to lead, manage, or participate on cross-functional teams to improve Learning and Development systems and processes
- Consults with managers and leaders in the business to understand business problems and opportunities to enhance eLearning and deployment or other learning technology solutions
- Designing reports, knowledge of data structures and familiarity with reporting tools
- Lead, manage and motivate training audiences
- Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Typically requires BS/BA degree or 5 yrs related work experience
- 2-4 years proven success as a training professional
- Strong technology skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Access a must
- Must be detailed-oriented, analytical and accurate
- Effective stand-up presentation, facilitator and development skills
- Understanding of training processes and practices for adult learners
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent listening skills
- Must be flexible and adapt quickly to changing environments
- Complete understanding of adult learning concepts
- Prior instructional design experience strongly preferred
- A minimum of 2 years Customs Brokerage experience preferred
- Customs Broker License preferred
