Operations Supervisor - Distribution

The Operations Supervisor role has a national salary range of $62,500 - $70,000.

For roles in California the range is $70,304 - $82,000 and for roles in Washington the range is $80,169 - $82,000.

As an Operations Supervisor at DHL Supply Chain, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our warehouses. Your responsibilities go beyond daily management – you will be instrumental in implementing processes to optimize our warehouse operations. Your leadership will be vital in guiding our frontline associates, fostering a safe and productive work environment, and ultimately driving the overall success of DHL Supply Chain. Job Description:

  • Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team of frontline associates by providing coaching, guidance, and support as needed, while also developing a strong team culture of inclusion and belonging.
  • Take proactive measures to consistently uphold compliance with health and safety regulations, fostering a culture of heightened safety awareness throughout the organization.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to track performance and identify areas of improvement. Provide regular reports and analysis to management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for enhancing warehouse operations.
  • Foster an environment of open communication and collaboration, facilitating regular and effective dialogue among leadership and associates to promote transparency, alignment, and teamwork.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • 1+ years operations experience in a lead/supervisor/management role, preferred.
  • 1+ years logistics industry experience, preferred.
  • Staff management, workload planning, objective setting and organizational skills, preferred.

Primary Functions:

  • Manage the planning and execution of proactive cycle counts in accordance with the higher of internal policy or contractual service level compliance
  • Manage the execution of reactive cycle counts for specified process exceptions in accordance with contractual service level compliance
  • Direct a structured problem-solving approach that results in the continuous improvement of inventory accuracy and established goals through:
    • Support and enhance the operation by applying influence and knowledge of inventory control best practices and the impacts to the business
    • Root cause analysis of inventory errors with identification of the most critical process failures
    • Facilitate the cross functional development and implementation of people, process or systemic solutions to correct the root cause of inventory errors
    • Evaluation of the effectiveness of actions taken
  • Design and generate appropriate reporting to track:
    • Inventory accuracy and shrink compliance with contractual service levels
    • Variance root cause trends
    • DHL financial exposure/liability relating to shrink
  • Manage and/or participate in identifying and resolving variance between WM and customer host system
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of internal and customer systems in order to provide extensive support to operational team as well as the customer for inventory and production related issues
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of FDA Product Expiry & Disposal regulations where applicable to the site to facilitate expiry and lot code management
  • Ensure proper identification and repackaging of damaged product with regard to disposal or the return to inventory as damaged merchandise
  • Processes SKU changes for product to ensure accurate units are tied to the correct SKU
  • Supports kitting process through audits and reconciliation as needed

Performance Indicators:

  • Achievement of inventory accuracy, shrink and inventory related exception correction performance as defined by customer contract and internal metrics
  • Completion of required daily, monthly, quarterly and annual KPI metrics
  • Completion of all cycle counts based on defined frequency requirements
  • Achievement of continuous improvement initiatives driving process and inventory accuracy, compliance, on-time completion, within budget, documented results
  • Compliance with associate initiatives such as:
    • Safety (compliance with audits, accident/injury rate, recognition, committee activity)
    • Development of key people (performance reviews, training, succession planning
    • Turnover - attainment of targeted level
