Job Title: Brokerage Customer Optimization Lead
Job Location: Port Huron, MI
Position Summary
The Customs Brokerage Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, and quality of import entry filings while delivering exceptional customer service. This role focuses heavily on optimization and continuous improvement of brokerage processes. The specialist works closely with internal teams, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure that all entries meet U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) requirements and company quality standards. A Licensed Customs Broker is preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Operations Leaders to identify process gaps and training needs related to entry quality and regulatory accuracy.
- Recommend and implement improvements or best practices related to data quality, documentation, or workflow efficiency.
- Assist with training brokerage staff on quality requirements, regulatory changes, and error prevention strategies.
- Perform detailed audits of customs entries to ensure compliance with CBP regulations, partner government agency requirements, and company quality standards.
- Identify trends, systemic defects, or recurring errors and develop corrective action plans.
- Monitor key quality metrics and provide reporting to leadership.
- Support internal and external quality reviews, assessments, and audits.
- Maintain and apply an up‑to‑date understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, including classification, valuation, origin determination, ADD/CVD, PGA filings, and other import requirements.
- Prepare, submit, and track post‑entry corrections including PSCs, Protests, Post Summary Corrections, and Voluntary Tenders.
- Collaborate with operational teams to research data errors, duty differences, customer instructions, and regulatory inconsistencies that require correction.
- Partner with customers to ensure proper documentation is received to support post‑entry actions.
- Verify financial accuracy related to duty adjustments and ensure timely resolution.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to customers on import compliance, entry quality, and post‑entry processes.
- Provide prompt, accurate responses to customer inquiries related to entry audits, corrections, and quality topics.
- Provide reporting, entry reviews, and customized quality analytics to customers as needed.
- Support escalation management and act as a liaison between customers and internal operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in U.S. Customs Brokerage or related regulatory compliance field.
- Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, valuation, origin, and entry processes.
- Experience preparing Post Summary Corrections (PSC), Protests, or other post‑entry actions.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under time‑sensitive conditions.
- Proficiency with brokerage systems, ACE, and Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred:
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker preferred
- Experience with audits, root-cause analysis, or quality control programs.
- Background in high-volume brokerage environments or third‑party logistics.

Pay Range: $54,300.00 - $72,400.00+ (Based on Experience)
