The Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Parts Buyer is responsible for selecting and evaluating vendors supplying critical equipment parts for DHL equipment. The buyer will manage inventory levels and make purchases based on business needs. This is a first shift position, Monday – Friday.
The buyer will work closely with DHL maintenance technicians, storekeepers, administrative staff and management team to ensure quality parts are procured at competitive pricing. Strong supplier and team relationship skills are essential.
Key Accountabilities
- Parts purchasing experience in addition general knowledge of GSE systems and power plants desired.
- Work closely with maintenance technicians to accurately identify parts that need to be special ordered.
- Active partner in GSE maintenance to solicit feedback on the quality of parts supplied to them consistent with the DHL “right the first time” approach to excellence.
- Utilizes the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software to run low stock inventory reports and manage a $2,000,000 on site parts inventory.
- Utilizes Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel (intermediate to advanced user skills preferred) in addition to MVP Plant (parts and maintenance management system).
- Work with vendors in the enforcement of our warranty guidelines and policies to seek resolution and reimbursement. Ensure vendor quotes are in line with actually billing and cost initiatives.
- Buyer will properly package oil samples and ship prepared samples to the contracted lab for analysis. This includes data entry of the sample particulars into the online entry dashboard.
- Buyer will directly manage the daily operations of our tire vendor with regard to inventory levels, verification of service hours and tires received. Will coordinate heavy equipment tire replacements as required by directly coordinating with DHL operations and the vendor to maximize equipment uptime.
- DHL ships parts to over 40 DHL locations and globally. The buyer will track those sales for accounting purposes and report to Finance for charge back purposes.
- Provide feedback on inventory levels, vender performance and quality to management personnel as required insuring proper stock is regularly on site for equipment repairs to minimize impact to operations.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned in this fast-paced environment.
