Construction Manager

- Deliver up to medium projects on their own or be part of large & complex construction projects throughout the complete construction lifecycle and ensured delivery on time, budget to quality. This involves managing all necessary external parties.
- Liaise with business colleagues including business development, solutions design teams, operations, and finance teams to ensure solution aligns with business requirements.
- Lead Construction activities
- Provide expert Construction knowledge and implement global processes in line with business strategy and objectives, corporate guidelines and policies.
- Manage standardized project delivery process and a standard construction costing process
- Manage standard process for tender evaluation, due diligence and change order requests, provide advice to BU project managers
- Monitor quality criteria, project status, cost, issue resolution and risk mitigation of projects of regional importance
- Engage external sources and identify construction trend and headwinds
- Provide expert knowledge for all construction activities
- Provide best cost-effective scenarios for all projects
- Act as a partner for all project management areas
- Connect with and influence other specialist departments and 3rd parties e.g. external service providers
- May convince others to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches
- Build strong, trusting cross-functional relationships with DHL managers
- Understand customer and key stakeholders interests and concerns and advise direct reports, customers and key stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance to line managers and employees
- Bachelor’s Degree
- More than 5 years experience in Construction projects

Job Description
This position shall be responsible for management and oversight of DPDHL construction projects including renovations/improvements to existing and acquired facilities with emphasis on tenant improvement projects associated with warehouse/distribution facilities and/or PUDs/Ground Hubs.This position shall function as the primary liaison between Operations and Real Estate and will be responsible for translating operational needs into construction requirements.This individual will partner with Operations resources and engage directly with Business colleagues to define requirements and manage customer expectations.
The Construction Manager role requires a person with a technical background either in construction, facility management and/or industrial/civil engineering.• The person must be familiar with warehouse/distribution construction and design.• Familiarity with warehouse/distribution center operations is preferred .
Responsibilities will include: facility evaluation and assessment, review of building requirements for operational needs, project scoping/development of construction specifications, cost estimating, and construction oversight.
Travel throughout the US/Canada and multi project organizational skills are also required for this position.A valid trade certificate, post education in a construction related field or five plus years of facility management and/or construction experience are preferred.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, required
• Warehouse/Industrial Construction/Facility Management Experience
• 5 – 10 years of experience
• Must be able to travel 30-40%
• Strong Technical/Engineering/Operations Background
• Financial Background preferred
• Project Management Experience/Training
