What We Do

Our Trade Compliance Analysts protect the DHL Express network, employees, and customers from risks associated with fraud, violations of international embargoes, and transactions with entities subject to sanctions related to global terrorism, weapons proliferation, and international drug trafficking.



The Role – Why It Matters

As a Trade Compliance Embargo Senior Analyst, you play a critical role in ensuring international shipments comply with global trade regulations and sanctions. Your work helps protect DHL, our customers, and global supply chains by ensuring shipments move safely, legally, and without disruption.

In this role, you will become familiar with sanctions regulations and learn the tactics used by offenders attempting to abuse the DHL network to breach sanctions or ship fraudulent items.

You will use your strong analytical skills and sound judgment to review compliance risks, provide clear guidance to stakeholders, and support the timely release of shipments.

Success in this role requires the ability to interpret complex regulatory or legal information and apply it to real-world cases with sound judgement, combined with a strong analytical mindset, a keen eye for anomalies, and a proactive, investigative approach to problem solving.



Key Responsibilities

  • Review shipment records flagged for trade compliance risks and determine valid matches or false positives
  • Assess sanctions breach risks based on regulatory restrictions and escalate potential red flags for review
  • Evaluate embargoes, denied party restrictions, and sanctions lists to support compliant shipment decisions
  • Clearly document review outcomes and actions taken in internal systems
  • Escalate confirmed or questionable cases and provide well-founded recommendations
  • Advise country and business contacts on compliance decisions and shipment releases
  • Contribute to broader trade compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives


Required Skills and Experience

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Clear and professional communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • Fluency in Arabic or Spanish is a strong advantage, additional Asian or European language skills are an advantage
  • Valid work permit for non-EU citizens
  • Familiarity with high-risk sanctioned countries, main sanction imposing bodies and basic understanding of sanctions regulations and export controls
  • Willingness to work full-time with flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to assess risk and make well-reasoned decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Confidence working with data, systems, and online research tools
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and perform accurately under pressure

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Knowledge of trade compliance, sanctions, or risk analysis concepts
  • Exposure to international trade, customs, or regulatory environments
  • University degree in international law, international business, or a related field
