Our Trade Compliance Analysts protect the DHL Express network, employees, and customers from risks associated with fraud, violations of international embargoes, and transactions with entities subject to sanctions related to global terrorism, weapons proliferation, and international drug trafficking.
THE ROLE – WHY IT MATTERS
As a Trade Compliance Junior Analyst, you will play an important role in supporting safe and compliant international shipments across Europe.
By reviewing trade compliance alerts and conducting detailed checks, you help prevent regulatory breaches while enabling shipments to move smoothly through our network.
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to build a career in international trade compliance with full training provided.
You should be comfortable performing repetitive, high-volume data screening tasks with consistent accuracy and focus over extended periods.
While the work is routine-driven and process-based, strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to identify potential risk indicators are essential to succeed in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review trade compliance alerts (such as embargoes or restricted parties) and assess whether they represent a valid risk
- Complete accurate checks using internal systems, databases, and trusted external sources
- Clearly document review outcomes and actions taken in compliance systems
- Escalate valid or unclear cases to senior specialists and release compliant shipments promptly
- Support wider trade compliance activities and collaborate with operational teams when required
- Contribute to smooth network operations by processing reviews accurately and on time
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Required skills and attributes
- Very good written and spoken English; additional languages are a welcome bonus
- Valid work permit (for non-EU citizens)
- Willingness to work full-time with a flexible shift schedule, including weekends and public holidays
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under time pressure
- Curiosity and analytical thinking to assess information from multiple sources
- Confidence working with IT systems, databases, and online research tools
- Self-motivation, reliability, and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment
Preferred (nice to have)
- University degree (for example in international relations, law, business, economics, or similar)
- Interest in international trade, customs, or compliance topics
- Experience in an administrative, analytical, or regulatory environment
This is an entry-level role. Full specialist training and clear guidance will be provided.
