As part of the Ocean Commercial Centre (OCC), the Assistant Manager plays a vital role in managing and executing all ocean freight pricing activities. You will support internal and external stakeholders by ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely pricing responses based on DHL’s global standards.
Job Purpose
The Assistant Manager, OCC, Ocean Freight, is responsible for designing, maintaining, and implementing OFR pricing and RFQ/tender management strategies. The role ensures full alignment with DHL’s commercial objectives, corporate guidelines, and global pricing policies, while delivering accurate and competitive pricing solutions to support the business.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement OFR pricing and RFQ/tender strategies for export and import across local, regional, and global markets, ensuring alignment with business objectives and corporate policies.
- Respond efficiently to internal and external pricing enquiries, maintaining accurate tariffs through strategic negotiations with depots and carriers.
- File and update carrier rates while coordinating with global stakeholders to meet customer requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with major shipping lines, including space management and regular visits to gather market insights and support competitive pricing.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with shipping lines at local, regional, and global levels to support business growth.
- Monitor and analyze depot and carrier performance to ensure operational efficiency, timely payments, and consistent service standards.
- Identify and implement process and service improvements to secure competitive, cost-effective pricing while enhancing service quality.
- Participate in local and global RFQs with strategic plans to win and retain key customers.
- Own the country-level P&L, driving monthly and annual financial analysis and GPS reporting to support strategic decision‑making and overall business performance.
- Minimum bachelor's degree from a reputable university is required.
- More than 6 years of experience, preferably in Freight Forwarding or relevant industry.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Ocean freight processes and industry best practices.
- Strong negotiation skills, interpersonal skill and problem-solving attitude.
- Functional and analytical experience in Operations, Freight Management, and Stakeholder Management.
- High integrity with good work ethic.
