About the Role

DHL Express SSA is seeking a dynamic and strategic Finance Manager to lead the finance function across Uganda and Rwanda. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring compliance, and enabling informed business decision-making across the sub-region.

You will be a trusted partner to the CFO – Rwanda and Uganda and Country Leadership Team, shaping financial strategy while ensuring robust governance, reporting excellence, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Management & Business Partnering

• Partner with the CFO – Rwanda and Uganda to define and execute finance strategy aligned to business objectives
• Provide actionable financial insights, scenario modelling, and risk analysis to support decision-making
• Evaluate investment cases and ensure governance and value delivery

Financial Control & Reporting

• Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in line with IFRS and statutory requirements
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking
• Monitor financial health, identify risks/opportunities, and drive corrective actions

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency across finance processes
• Lead implementation of tools, systems, and automation initiatives
• Strengthen governance, controls, and compliance with global and local policies

Risk, Compliance & Audit

• Oversee internal and external audit processes and ensure remediation of findings
• Manage tax compliance (VAT, income tax, and statutory filings)
• Partner with risk and compliance stakeholders to manage key business risks

Management & Team Development

• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team
• Define structure, set performance targets, and drive accountability
• Build capability, succession, and engagement within the team

What You Bring

Experience & Expertise

• Minimum 10 years’ finance experience in a multinational environment
• At least 5 years within express logistics or freight forwarding is advantageous
• Strong understanding of financial controlling, reporting, and compliance
• Proven experience in business partnering and strategic finance leadership

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance or Accounting
• Professional qualification (CPA or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax, and regulatory frameworks
