Technical Author (Fixed Term Contract - 12 months)

DHL Air (UK) Ltd is the largest all-cargo air carrier in the UK, operating a fleet of B757-200, B767-300 and B777- 200 aircraft on worldwide operations. As part of a major digital transformation, DHL Air (UK) is implementing AMOS, an industry-leading Maintenance and Engineering system that will modernise how we manage aircraft maintenance, airworthiness, and technical records.

We are looking to appoint a Technical Author on a fixed term contract to support this transition with the analysis, design, and documentation of business processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to be directly involved in one of the most significant technical projects within the airline and to work closely with experienced engineers, system specialists, and the global AMOS implementation team.

The Role:

You will join the Continuing Airworthiness team supporting the implementation and configuration of AMOS. This will involve supporting the analysis, design, and documentation of technical business processes across the Maintenance and Engineering functions.

Areas you will be involved in include:

  • Reviewing current business processes and optimising end-to-end processes using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Facilitating workshops, process mapping sessions, and stakeholder interviews to gather, structure and validate technical information.
  • Translating business requirements and technical content into clear documentation (work instructions, process maps, SOPs and user handbooks).
  • Supporting change management and user adoption initiatives.
  • Documentation, reporting, and support for project milestones.
  • The opportunity to work with and learn from experienced engineers in a Part-CAMO setting.
  • Exposure to Boeing fleets operating across a global network.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in Aeronautical, Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field, or an equivalent qualification or professional experience.
  • Experience as a Process Engineer, Business Analyst, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of business process modelling (BPMN, value stream mapping)
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Process driven mindset, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working in cross-functional, project-based environments
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Word
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
  • Previous experience as a technical author
  • Proficiency with tools such as Visio, SAP Signavio, Zoho, Miro, Jira, Confluence
  • Exposure to Agile or digital transformation projects
  • Experience working in the aviation sector or other safety critical business
