Role Purpose:

The Senior Manager, Technology Program Governance & Planning (PMO) is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving the technology PMO capability within Customs Solution Design & Delivery. The role has a dotted reporting line to the Head of Customs, Solution Design & Delivery – Network Operations IT, ensuring alignment with enterprise‑wide PMO frameworks, technology governance standards, and strategic delivery priorities.

This role ensures effective governance of technology transformation, delivery excellence, and strategic alignment of the Customs technology roadmap across all programs and initiatives. This includes platform modernization, digital solutions, systems integration, and regulatory technology enablement. The Senior Manager defines and operationalizes governance, planning, and delivery standards, while driving portfolio performance, delivery predictability, and dependency management across complex technology environments.

Working closely with Customs Transformation PMO, Customs Cross Functional, Clearance, Regulatory & Automation leads and Product teams, this role ensures strong alignment between technology strategy, solution design, and execution. The role enables end‑to‑end visibility of technology investments, risks, and outcomes, supporting data‑driven decision‑making at senior Customs Transformation & Network Operations. In close partnership with the Central PMO, the Senior Manager contributes to enterprise consistency, adoption of best‑practice, and continuous improvement across the global technology delivery ecosystem.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

Portfolio Management:
  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks and methodologies.
  • Oversee the Customs Solution Design & Delivery technology portfolio, ensuring products projects and programs are aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Define standards for monitoring and tracking of strategic initiatives, ensuring timely execution and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Define and manage PMO activities, communicate major milestones and potential risks.
  • Monitor project health (budget, scope, and timeline) and provide early-warning signals for at-risk initiatives.
  • Standardize documentation and reporting templates to ensure consistency across different workstreams.
Steer Governance:
  • Facilitate communication and reporting between project teams and senior management, including SMT-level presentations.
  • Facilitate workshops to resolve conflicting priorities and drive alignment.
  • Coordinate preparation of governance materials and track action items.
  • Engage stakeholders effectively in governance processes to promote collaboration and transparency.
Performance Monitoring
  • Support the SMT team in defining and implementing portfolio dashboards with clear KPIs and metrics to drive customer centricity and performance.
  • Define success criteria for project delivery and establish performance measuring methods.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Relevant university degree (MBA or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management.
  • Proven experience leading complex IT portfolios across multiple platforms and technologies in a global or matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with energy, adaptability, and resilience in fast‑paced, continuously evolving technology and transformation landscapes.
  • Strong aptitude for understanding and governing emerging technologies, delivery methodologies, and operating models across Cloud, digital, and enterprise IT domains, ensuring effective oversight rather than hands‑on execution.
  • Ability to engage, influence, and build credibility with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Proven track record of influencing across global, regional, and functional boundaries, building strong stakeholder partnerships to drive aligned decision‑making and successful business outcomes.
  • Results-driven and pragmatic mindset, with the ability to navigate complexity and break down silos.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
